Re: Fedor retiring to go into politics?
How can people quote past rankings of guys like Sylvia and Arlovski (pushing them to be elite MMA guys at the time) and yet also say that the UFC's HW division is just NOW relevant? That's implying that when guys like Sylvia and Arlovski were in the UFC the HW sucked balls...therefore Fedor's wins over "top flight former UFC champs" become crap (since the UFC sucked when they were champs).
Make sense? You can't prop up Sylvia and Arlovski as amazing top 5 talent and a second later rip on that era of UFC's HW division.
Either way, this is on Fedor's handlers and Fedor. Fedor chooses who represents him, and they refuse to do any sort of realistic deal (a co-promotion offer isn't realistic). Fedor the fighter isn't dodging people, but Fedor the business man is.Last edited by mgoblue; 06-14-2010, 12:35 PM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Fedor retiring to go into politics?
Exactly the point I have been making this whole time. Fedor is not a coward...period. Nobody can knock the man for doing what's best for HIS business and HIS plans in life. Maybe a co-promotion deal is stupid for the UFC, but Fedor is trying to do his own thing and look out for what's best for his own business interests. Just because the UFC is "top dog" right now, that doesn't mean nobody is not allowed to follow their own dream/go down their own path.
I could understand people calling Fedor out if he mouthed off as much as Mayweather and then ducked anything that remotely resembled a threat, but Fedor has never once proclaimed to be the best ever, so I don't understand all of the animosity towards him.Comment

Re: Fedor retiring to go into politics?
You are correct, that was bad wording on my part. What I should have said is that the UFC's HW division has only recently become relevant by the standards people are using here. The original point was that someone mentioned that he wasn't fighting anyone that was even top 10, what I was pointing out was that he actually was fighting guys that were top 5 even. How can people quote past rankings of guys like Sylvia and Arlovski (pushing them to be elite MMA guys at the time) and yet also say that the UFC's HW division is just NOW relevant? It would be incorrect to assume that Arlovski was taking the easy route when you could argue he was the second best HW at the time behind Fedor. Also Tim Sylvia was arguably a top 5 HW, the other fighters considered top 5 at the time were Big Nog (who Fedor has already beaten) and Randy Couture who was doing everything in his power to get out of the UFC to fight Fedor..::..::::::::.:.:.:.:....:::.:.::::..:.:::....:::: ...:..::."When you're an assassin, you don't have a conscience"-Gilbert ArenasComment

Re: Fedor retiring to go into politics?
Same spot as before, top 3 easily and its only between GSP, Anderson and Fedor. Lets be real here, Fedor might have lost to a UFC wash out but GSP lost to a guy, Matt Serra, who only got back in the UFC by winning a reality show so GSP's legacy cant go untainted if anyone wants to hold this loss to Werdum over Fedor's head.Comment
