I was hoping we'd see the Winner and Lauzon fights. It looks like we get to see those on Spike before the PPV.

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Dude, what do you mean he hasn't been great recently. He dominated the lw division, till Edgar beat him in a close fight. He finished Florian. He finished Diego. He finished Joe daddy. He finished Sherk. All of these guys are tough to finish. And all most all of them are top completion. If moving up to fight gsp because his ego tells him he can be an elite welterweight too means he hasn't been great recently, the the rest of the division must be putrid.bj hasn;t been great recently ill give you guys that, but he is still the most talented fighter in the division.
just depends on his atitude, shape, fitness, motivation etc. i really cant see edgar winning again to be honest. im thinking if bj comes out and finds the fight is going in a similar direction as the first he will have to try out his jui-jitsu this time. he is a freak of a grappler, and edgar isn;t exactly the best, i wondered why he didn;t try it before (maybe he thought he was winning)Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
I just rewatched the Edgar/Penn fight from UFC 112 to get me ready for tonight's fight and to see if there was anything I missed when I watched it live, and boy, what a difference.
I originally scored the fight 48-47 for Edgar, a close fight, but I felt Edgar was the more effective striker.
Watching it today, I scored the fight 49-46 Penn, giving Edgar only the 5th and final round.
Maybe it was the commentary that swayed me in my first viewing, or just the fact that someone was actually making things look even on the feet with Penn, but Penn won that fight and there is no way anyone could give, as Douglas Crosby did, Edgar all five rounds.
Penn landed the cleaner, more damaging blows, while Edgar was more flash than substance, reminding me of Oscar De La Hoya with his flashy combinations hitting air, but wowing the crowd and scoring points for their appearance.
Even still, the fight was a close fight, razor close. And I could understand people giving Edgar a round a two which I gave to Penn, but when it comes down to who won that fight, it was BJ.
Coming in to tonight's fight, I have Penn winning via TKO in Round 3. Edgar doesn't have the power to stop BJ in his tracks and I think a more aggressive BJ Penn will make for a shorter, more convincing victory.
I see the two fighters feeling each other out in the first round, then BJ catching Edgar in the second, and then finally putting him away for good in the third.
Prior to this reviewing of their first fight, I was ready to give Edgar the nod, saying he would win this rematch and more convincingly than the first time. But now, BJ is my pick, as I feel his power and aggression is what will make the difference.Comment

Toney looks like a ball of flab. Reminds me of the Great White Hype. I would still be shocked if Toney makes it inside the game. Nothing but trouble is going to happen from this fight. Some freak show stuff is going to happen.MLB the Show - Cubs

2016: 96-66 - Lost Game 7 of WS (18 innings to Red Sox)

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Yeah boxboy, my biggest concern is what Toney does after the fight if he loses. I don't think he cares about the UFC or MMA and is only using this as a cash grab so if he loses is he gonna do something crazy in the cage after the fight?Comment

He may say some crazy things in his post fight interview, but he won't go Paul Daley on us.Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Yeah, I dont think he would do anything like Daley. I just have a feeling that something crazy will happen to turn this spectacle into a full blown circus.

Good picks, i just think Maynard is to one sided to deal with Kenny. If he takes him down and does nothing, he will get elbows like crazy from the bottom.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

You are giving the judges way too much credit. If Gray is on top eating elbows for 15 minute he'll probably still get the win.
But hey I'll be more than happy to be wrong about this one. If Kenny wins the fight will probably be good. If Gray wins it may put us all to sleep.Last edited by sven; 08-28-2010, 05:05 PM.Comment

I wasnt saying the judges will give him the win, but if he is taking elbows for a little, maybe he will try something else. Either way i think kenny is going to sub him or dec win him.You are giving the judges way too much credit. If Gray is on top eating elbows for 15 minute he'll probably still get the win.

Damn I should have drove down to Boston....but to me I rather watch stuff on tv. Going to stuff live is fun atmosphere, but viewing is horrible. Camera men get in the way too much LOL.
I really hope Kenny stands and bang with Maynard for Maynard can KO his butt.Comment
