That isn't me, and I'm not judging the game based on medium difficulty. You see, we adults have these things we call examples. That is a prime example of the tactic I have been able to successfully use on all difficulties.

I guess I have to make my own video of KOing the Legend CPU in 10 seconds repeatedly to prove the fanboys wrong.

Im not sure if this has been posted (its late and Ill read the rest at work tomorrow), the ref stood us back up. Dont remember the exact situation, but it was a ground battle and we were put back on our feet. It was nice since it was a clear stalemate. Last I read in the thread no one had commented on being stood up.

Yes, please do. FWIW my post history here should be a clear indication I'm not an EA fanboy, if you're referring to me as well.

At any rate this is an early build and user vs user yields an entirely different result.

Ok..... cpu probably wont be a challenge in this game. I just knocked out Miller three straight times in under a minute on legendary. Its almost the same fight everytime. Within 5-6 standing strikes he goes for the clinch usually near the cage. After I advance and take him down I have zero trouble getting to full mount. The only reason I have lost is I havent learned the submission battle yet.

Uploading to youtube now. What you will see:

Me almost KOing the CPU with the first flurry.
Me almost getting KO'd because blocking doesn't do anything
Me KOing the CPU at around 20 seconds into the fight with my second flurry.

I didn't play a bunch of times for the desired result, I played one match and recorded it. I was tempted to do it over on account of almost losing (that usually doesn't happen) but I decided not to.

Holy **** I just got a flash KO. 15 Seconds in I threw a spinning back fist (I didnt even mean to) and Shields just dropped. Thats after making me tap 4 times in a row. I really need to figure out the sub game since I have spent no time trying to learn it.

Re: EA Sports MMA Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)

Final impression for the night...... I am not impressed. I just best Lashay 30 second into the fight on legend. He ran straight across the ring and took me down. I reverse him with easy and proceed to get the mount and knock him out. Its been pretty much the same way every fight for me. The only thing the cpu can do to beat me is catch me wasting stamina and sub me. Out of 15-20 fights, I think only one fight went past the first round.

One thing I did notice was the warning rumble seemed to be shortest for Shields so I am guessing his stats did that? The better the ground game the less warning you get makes perfect sense for me so I didnt bother actually checking the stats.

I could not get the cpu to get in a stand up war with me. That didnt make sense since they would kick my *** for 4-5 strikes and then take me down and lose. You would figure if it was working why go to the ground. That was very annoying since I am most interested in learning the stand up.

Overall it seems to be a good game. It might serve as a great chess match for users but I highly doubt career mode will be fun. IMO the AI will not be able to give you a fight once you really get a feel for the game. I really see some great things but not sure if it will be enough for me. Gotta give the demo more time but vs another user.

Edit: Knock Lashey out the exact same way again. Not a fan of the ground game at the moment. Even faster than UFC's reversals to mount.

Yep, I was about to back you up, but it seems like it is unnecessary now with this video. The CPU AI, even on Legendary, leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully this is due to it being an early build.

as someone whose played both UFC 09 and 10, i understand the feeling of wanting a better MMA fighting game. that being said, im not about to jump on the "next best thing" and proclaim it best next gen fighting game. as others have said this game leaves a lot to be desired. i understand its a demo, and i havent played any user vs. user games but the 15-20 matches i did play left me disappointed. trying to strike with the AI is a joke, theres no "jumpin in jumpin out". most of the times i even attempted to strike with the ai i was almost instantly taken down, like there was a switch. with ground game too, it seems everytime id try to move the right stick to strike or hit X to transition, my controller would rumble and theyd go for a transition, and this was on medium. i eventually started being defensive, waiting for them to take me down and either counter or sprawl. i would try to stand up to strike but the ai kept going for takedowns, which made me basically lay and pray. i had a 5 round fight like this, until i realised how over powered mount was. after the 5 round fight i said **** it and went up to Legend. First fight, over in 30 seconds. Im overeem, lashely runs over, immediatley gets me in clinch, slams me to sidecontrol. he goes for major transition, i reverse him to sidecontrol, he goes for another major transition sweep and i reveresed that into mount and pound away for a victory. actually it was 32 seconds, 4:28 left on the clock. the rest of the fights i dominated pretty much same way, with either me reveresing them into mount or blockin takedown and transitioning into mount. the only time i lost was because i decided to make it interesting and only allow myself to go for major transitions. needless to say, on legend they block at least50, but prob more like 75% of transitions.

this game has flashes of greatness, sub system is enjoyable when you can actually lock one on (even with little to no stamina my subs were always blocked, only got into one the whole time and i finished it with miller). blockin a takedown with perfect timing and capitalizing on the stun feels great, TKOs look good but seemed impossible to escape (also noticed if you jump on them and dont punch ref still stops fight for some reason). i hope EA is still working hard on this but im sure they've shifted to marketing it now (prob for a while now actually). GnP from mount looks bad imo, weak strikes somehow doing damage, and the "follow thru" with the final KO punch isbad looking, especially since its right thru someones block every time.

Ill have to try some player vs player tomorrow, i doubt that itll be that much different except for the fact we usually will do just stand up.

i hope i was constructive and not to critical, hard to do that after following this for so long tho.

I def have some of the same feelings as this person below

"Well, gave it a few more hours this morning. Even more laughably disappointing.

Basically, the mechanics of the game are deeply flawed. With the simplicity of the ground game system, it's just too easy to get into one dominant position and stay there, raining down strikes, and tapping B anytime you see your opponent move. His stamina will deplete severely everytime you defend a transition, which takes no skill, then you can proceed to throw strike with impunity...and by throw strikes, I mean repeatedly tap the diagonals on the controller- yaaaaawn.

I cranked it up to Legend, and won the fight pretty much the same way every single time, about 10 times in a row, first round. I was Lashley against Overeem. Wait for him to throw any strike, shoot, takedown. Let him get me in guard, posture up, pound away. Anytime he moves, tap B, and take out a bunch of his stamina. Distribute shots between head and body, easily keep his stamina in the red, while he can't do anything. Then once he's tired, just pound away- blocking shots does next to nothing. KO!

Alternatively, and I did this about 5 times, wait for him to shoot, tap B. In the sprawl, wait for him to try to transition, take out a bunch of his stamina by defending, try the to transition until it works - not like he can reverse you or anything. Wait to get to the side back mount, wail away. He moves the slightest, tap B.

It's just too simple and unbalanced....I can't wait for the poopstorm of whining once people go online and see how easily things are exploited. And don't say "not the final build!"- the flaws are too deep and inherent in the simplicity of the system. Sorry, folks...the diehard fanboys will cry, but it's simply not a good emulation of MMA, and will not be a successful game."

Felt fun, but had a few observations from 10ish matches using Mayhem against Shields.

It seemed damn near impossible to get any sort of standup going...Shields always went to the clinch no matter what I could do.

Transitions seemed easy for me using Mayhem. Even if I got mounted I could reverse it pretty easily.

Subs (esp chokes) seemed pretty easy too...if I slapped on a triangle (no matter what Shields' stamina was) I'd be able to get the win...Same with the arm triangle.

This is on default difficulty, I have to try more difficult later...

I don't have a 360 or PS3, but am considering buying one of those consoles just to play this game! I'm leaning toward PS3, but we will see.
I haven't watched any footage at all, so therefore I am surprised. Plus, it's coming from EA, and I didn't expect much from them.

I will probably get it somewhere down the line.

                              Questions for developers at EA:

I played for hours upon hours - I'm really enjoying this game. Any word on damage to limbs, and how effective they are moving on in the match? Say if I get my opponent in an arm bar, almost snap his arm off, but he escapes - will his striking with that arm be less effective? If I pull him back into it later, will it be easier for me to get him to submit already damaged or will the lock-in mini game be based solely on stamina? Will his attempts to counter my takedowns, and his passes be weaker and less effective? I haven't noticed this too much. I did notice targeting the mid drains stamina but if that's the extent of what you can target, I will be disappointed. Kind of take some of the strategy out of the game.

Overall, this demo is a blast! Only two concerns:

                                - When I get to the mount, I just hold L2 and punch = automatic KO. The cpu can't seem to to counter that move (L2 punch)

                                - CPU always take me down. I don't mind the clinch game in fact I love the clinch game in this game. But CPU always go for the take down.
