Personally I thought that this game would be poopy, but after a hour of me getting my butt handed to be by Lashley and Miller, and me subbing them, i enjoyed it. Not the best mind you, but not a suck fest either. Kudos EA.

There's really good strategy involved in this game, it's not as simple and straightforward as the UFC.

Spinning back fists, the speed depends on the fighter and it should be easy to see coming the majority of the time. How often do we see clean back fists land? We usually go multiple events without seeing a successful one, so I'm not sure how often you expect to be landing that in-game. Heck there have been entire events where you won't even see one attempted and there's reason for that. So EA replicated the spinning back fist pretty well.

Uppercuts have to be setup to be effective. Body shots I've used and they work pretty well. You can setup some great combos off of the body shots.

As far as blocking goes I haven't experienced what you're talking about. Footwork is decent, the speed makes it possible to get in and out of the pocket, makes reach and distance a factor, or you can also be aggressive and push the pace.
So then why would you even use a jab or straight when the CPU will just go over the top of it every time? There is a reason why no one uses jabs in UFC Undisputed, they aren't very damaging and if you hit your opponent with one while he's winding up a punch it doesn't stop or slow him down at all.

Spinning backfists as you said are very easy to stop, so why would you use it when you can just throw unstoppable hooks?

Why would I waste my time setting up uppercuts with body shots when I can rush in and KO the CPU on legendary in 10 seconds?

Why would I waste my time with feints when I can just punch you in the face repeatedly?

Why would you go in and out when you can just stun them with one hook and then knock him out with a few more?

Distance and reach don't mean anything in this game, I lunge at the CPU from 5 feet away and still land my punches even though you can clearly see that they aren't connecting.

You're just plain delusional if you think this game is more strategic than Undisputed 2010. They are both mindless unrealistic button mashers.

This video is an excellent example of the standup. Why bother setting anything up when you can just punch them repeatedly?

I'm in love with this game already. I just caught Lashley with a left/right hook combo square on the chin while he was throwing a wild slip punch and flash ko'd him.

I'm not feeling this game at all and I think some of it has to do with the UFC controls I'm used to, but this does feel a little bit on the arcade side for me.

Agreed. But I don't get why people are so surprised. If you watched the gameplay footage released over the past few months, you'd know it's good and way more realistic than the UFC game. So why are you so surprised?

I don't have a 360 or PS3, but am considering buying one of those consoles just to play this game! I'm leaning toward PS3, but we will see.

Game looks better and more polished than FNR4. The ground game looks...well groundbreaking.

Dude playing on medium difficulty and still got his arse handing to him by spamming buttons. You can't do that crap on Legend.

So, after demolishing the easy level for a bit, moved up to medium and am finding a decent challenge. Just got K.O'd by Lashley after finding myself on the bottom with no stamina left, leaving me wide open.

I'm enjoying this, though my striking is terrible.

What are you talking about? He KO'd the CPU in under a minute. I have used the exact same strategy on legend and it works just as well. I'll make my own video if you don't believe me...

Didn't really need to include those 2. You'd have to be intentionally trying to make something worse to not be better.

I swear. Sometimes when I come on this board, it's like I somehow get a different game than some of you guys. But then again, I'm not a legendary videogame player like some.

I've played 6 matches so far; 3 as Lashley and 3 as Miller.

I managed to lose all 3 with Lashley, getting victimized by Overeem's Muay Thai clinch. The first fight, Overeem GnP'd me out in 45 seconds.

I had one of those "Oh S%!t" moments with Miller. I was getting abused by Shield's takedown all night. Then, with about two minutes left in the fight, Shields takes me down, I go to kick him off me and he comes at me, fully postured in my guard. He's raining down haymakers that I keep slipping. And then I hit X at the right moment and lock him in a triangle and put him to sleep with about a minute left in a fight I was being totally dominated.

I love the striking. I love the parries, the slipping, and the catching. If they took kicks, takedowns, and the ground game out of it, this game would make a hell of a Fight Night Round 5.

I'm all in. Bring on the retail. I can't wait to get online.

Pretty indifferent to it after a few matches. Graphics look great and the striking and submission systems are both good, but the grappling system as to takedowns and transitions is lacking. It struggles with the same problem as UFC does with the constant advances in positions from both guys. Having guys go from half guard, to side control, back to half guard, to full guard, then back up the half guard in a span of 30 seconds isn't very realistic. I guess its just too difficult to convey realistic grappling in a video game.

I'll have to give the demo some more play though to decide if I'm going to buy it or not. The way their stamina system works has me encouraged.

Dude seriously?? How do you judge this game based on medium difficulty? Medium is really easy, and you got it handed to you. It's funny how quickly some people come up with an opinion after a few games. When you get up to the adult difficulties, let us know what you think.
