lol... That's brilliant marketing by the UFC. It's like someone knowing what the NBA is, but not basketball.

Yep...and as someone who prefers ring based mma...I just say UFC now to avoid the explanation.

I think that's the biggest factor here, to most MMA doesn't exist, to them MMA IS Ultimate Fighting.

Also, maybe it's not so much about knowing the athletes, rather it's brand recognition. For instance I don't follow the NHL and I don't know any of the athletes in the sport, but if there's a hockey game out there that I like I'll buy it. I know the NHL is the pinnacle of the sport, so I know what I'm getting.

With StrikeForce and the fighters in EA MMA, there's no brand recognition, thus they probably feel as if they're paying for 2nd tier content. Which as fans we know isn't the case, but to them the UFC is the be all end all to MMA. I told my cousin about the game not long ago, his first question was who's in the game, when I told him it was mainly StrikeForce fighters he immediately lost all interest in the game. EA and StrikeForce needs to do more in order to bolster their brand and their fighters. Showcase these athletes and convince the world that they're just as good as the UFC guys.

Kinda tough for Strikeforce to establish this when except for a few guys it's not like they have that many top tier fighters. Most Strikeforce top guys would be middle of the road UFC fighters, with some figuring in the competition for a title shot in various divisions...It's not like any of them dominate in LW, WW, MW, LHW. Overreem and Fedor are the top two, Hendo's good wherever he goes, but a lot of the other guys have tried it in the UFC and left for a reason (or were let go)...

Not knocking Strikeforce, I actually enjoy watching it, but they don't have the same level talent of the UFC.

Fedor and Overeem could both contend for titles, personally I'd take those two over any HW in the UFC. Nick Diaz could contend for a title at WW and in fact the UFC is interested in bringing him back. Paul Daley we've already seen that he can beat any guy in the UFC aside from Kos, GSP, and now Shields.

Jacare would fall in the top 5 of UFC MW's

Melendez is the #2 LW in the world and I'll put Noons over any UFC fighter without a solid wrestling background.

The list goes on, StrikeForce has a lot of top notch guys who would definitely hold their own in the UFC. But, what's more important is for the fights to be entertaining, and SF delivers more consistently on good fights compared to the UFC.

I agree but, I guarantee that the causal MMA fan doesn't know who half of those guys are. Which hurts sales. IMO, if they transfered UFC's roster to the game they would have probably doubled the amount sold. Just because most "causal fans" only follow the UFC and fighting with guys that they don't know doesn't interest them.

Oh, I'm not debating that they'd hold their own, but in general they just don't have the depth in the roster...

I'll disagree with the entertaining fights aspect. Sometimes the UFC will have a "blah" show, but overall they do a pretty good job delivering. Maybe it's because the UFC has so many more shows it's not as big a deal, but there have been some snoozer Strikeforce cards too...

I like Overeem but lets get real his biggest win is against Vitor Belfort. He has benefited from fighting so infrequently that people consider him a top HW because he hasnt lost since 07. A ton of fighters could do that if the toughest fighter they face in the last 4 yrs is Brett Rogers.

Also its easy to have stacked/great cards when you only hold 6-7 major cards a yr. The UFC hosts 20+.

UFC don't have 20 cards a year.........More in line with 15 a year. But I remember back in the day, it use to be 3 cards a year.

Nah, it is over 20 when you factor in the Fight Night's and UFC on Versus. They just had 2 PPVs in 2 weeks, too.

This is probably the worst news I have read all week. I really hope they make another MMA game. Everyone needs to write to them and tell them how kick *** their game was.
