In need of some help
I'm not an MMA expert by any means and just starting following the sport in the last year to year and half. I started a career mode in this game in the middleweight division and worked my way up to the Strikeforce league, beat Jake Shields for the title, promptly lossed it to Jacare and ever since then it seems i've gotten worse every fight. Now i know the opponents in get harder as you go and i don't want this too be easy but what i can't understand for the life of me is every fight my opponent lands about 100+ strikes to my 30-50 with the same amount of strikes thrown for both fighters. WTF am i doing wrong??? I can clearly see when i miss or when he parry's but obviously i can't tell between and connected strike and a blocked one. How do you know the difference?? Also to block my opponents strikes do you have to hit the R2 every time he throws a blow or can you hold it while he throws his 2-3 strike combo. My CAF is a 82 stndup and 94 MT fighter at this point but it seems combos are not as responsive in the fight as they are in training. Is it better to use button punching? I'm playing on Medium btw (yes i suck lol)Tags: None -
Re: In need of some help
Well it all depends on your combo speed, punch speed, kick speed, punch reach, kick reach and movement speed.
If your combo speed is slow, then your not going get off combos against a veteran fighter. Far as blocking, it all depends on your blocking rating. Sure you can hold it down the whole time, but you still take damage, not just as much.
It is best to just move out of the way instead of blocking. Also circle away, not just go back. If you go straight back in this game, they will just step forward continuing to tag you.
You also really want to pay attention to your reach in this game. For this stat above all will effect how you effective you can be in this game. If you have short reach, you pretty much got to be right up in their face to hit them. This presents a HUGE problem with you got a slow fighter with short reach.
If your fighter is fast, then you can just go in and out. Also just because you a muay thai fighter don't mean go for the clinch ALL the time. Attack their legs. For the 1st time ever in a MMA game, leg kicks actually matter. -

Thanks. I don't spam the MT because as the opponents got harder it got harder to actually get them in the clinch so i have been attacking the legs every fight. Here are some of my ratings:
Mov Spd - 87
Punch Rnge - 95
Hand Spd - 92
Pnch Cmb Spd - 86
Kick Rnge - 96
Kick Cmb Spd -90
Blocking - 95
Do you use TPC or button ?Comment

Re: In need of some help
work range. striking as they are stepping in to strike usually can stun them with a counter, and allow you to follow up. just dont take the easy way out and be a button basherComment

Re: In need of some help
This is exactly what i try to do and a lot of times my RS command doesn't register and i'm left standing there to eat a strike or kick. Which in turn was my reason for asking if Skillz used button or right stick because i was wondering do i just need more practice or does this happen (combos, strikes not registering sometimes) to anybody else who uses TPC.Comment
