UFC 127 - Penn vs. Fitch

    That was quick.

Dana (White) confirmed B.J. Penn will face Jon Fitch in Sydney, (Australia).

Penn vs Fitch will main event the Sydney card. It was booked immediately after Penn won tonight.

    Re: UFC 127 - Penn v.s. Fitch

I'm interested in this fight even though I think Fitch will win this decisively.

If BJ wins, we're thinking title shot right? Quite easy to sell a third fight with the grease factor of the previous fight.

I dont like this matchup at all. Penn's cardio at this weight will always be an issue and Fitch will just lay on Penn to wear him down and then go for the takedown off of that. I really hope Penn goes in, stuffs his takedown and then just beats the hell out of Fitch on the feet but, even with his win tonight, I have very little confidence in Penn at this weight.

Isn't that exactly what was said about the Hughes fight?

I would wager a large sum of money that Fitch won't allow himself to be knocked out in the first round. I mean comparing Hughes to Fitch? There is no comparison.

Fitch is a terrible matchup for anyone, especially Penn.

Seriously though, if Penn can defeat Fitch in any fashion he'll make me a believer again.

Honestly what he did last night doesn't prove much to me at all.

Me either but that's what people (myself included) said Hughes would do. Take him down and wear him out for an easy win but he didn't even get a chance to.

Does Fitch even have any fans? I hope BJ finds a way to take this guy out.

Maybe, but Fitch is "fighting" at much higher level than Hughes, and is basically a puzzle that nobody has yet to solve except GSP. His style just gives people fits.

LMAO he really doesn't. I try to be as open minded as possible but I just hate that guy and the way he "fights".

With that said, nobody has figured this guy out except GSP and that says something. So I have no choice but to give him respect.

Fitch is a boring fighter just like Machida is......If those 2 ever fought each other that would be a snorefest. But pretty much they just using BJ Penn name to sale tickets in Austrailia.

I don't think Fitch and Machida are in the same ballpark.

Machida is a brilliant striker and can end things in a flash.. he just has to change up his approach. He needs to go on the offensive more rather than just sit back the entire fight.

Fitch on the other hand............ ughhhhhhh.

Re: UFC 127 - Penn vs. Fitch

With all the other big names already booked on other cards, I can't picture myself paying for this PPV with Fitch in the main event.

Whoever wins this match deserves a title shot, but I have no interest in watching GSP vs. Penn 3 or GSP vs. Fitch 2.

I'll be rooting for Penn. We need more top level fighters who are willing to fight every 3-4 months instead of every 6-12 months.

I wouldn't mind a Penn/GSP match again, because then we would at least have seen Penn defeat a guy like Fitch who is a terrible match up for Penn.

Maybe BJ can find a way to submit him from the bottom, because he is going to be taken down. If he can get back up and keep it standing for a while, he could win the fight.

Would be interesting to see BJ work his submission skills on Fitch. Would especially be interested in seeing a RNC attempt since everyone at AKA says that it is impossible to choke out Fitch.
