Re: UFC 127 - Penn vs. Fitch

Vitor already stated he wanted to fight Wandy in Brazil, but thats not until August. Plus he already said he wanted to fight before Brazil as well. With that said, he is going to fight somebody regardless before Brazil.

So technically he could fight Bisping in April or May and still have enough time to camp for his fight for Wandy in Brazil in August.

Far as Sonnen.......who knows. I don't think Dana wants Anderson Silva to fight again before he fights GSP. It is more of a draw if he is still champion when he fights GSP. But then again you also got to factor in how long it will take GSP to get up to 185.

Sure GSP might say he only wants to add muscle weight, but damn it this isn't Burger King. Nobody in MMA gets it their way like that. If thats the case then everybody would do it.

So I could see Sonnen fighting Nate Marquart or Bisping or Damian Maia again.

As it stands now Okami is the number 1 contender for Anderson Silva.

Sonnen is a funny guy.......If he does fight Bisping, I can't wait to see what kind of trash talking he does for him. Sonnen can talk mad trash talk like no other.

So if the little stuff Jorge did made Bisping mad, then the stuff Sonnen going to do to him is going to make him cry like a baby.

Bisping isnt fighting in April or May. There is only one PPV card in each month (Toronto in April and Vegas and May) and those cards are practically booked. Maybe in Vancouver in June but thats doubtful too. There is no way Dana would risk losing a draw like Belfort in Brazil but risking an injury or injury suspension.

Bisping will fight either Sonnen, Maia or Marquardt (if he beats Akiyama)

Dana isnt going to want to have two of his three biggest stars (GSP and Silva) on the shelf until the Fall/Winter. I think Silva/Okami will happen in August in Brazil.

Re: UFC 127 - Penn vs. Fitch

Wow Bisping and his camp just don't know when to shut up. They still playing the blame game:

Bisping and his team at the Wolfslair MMA Academy released a blistering statement about Rivera on Tuesday, ripping Rivera and his "notorious corner man, Matt Phinney" for their conduct before, during and after their fights at UFC 127.

"Let me begin first by saying that in five years of competing in the UFC at every level, we have never encountered a more unprofessional outfit as Jorge Rivera's camp," Anthony McGann of Wolfslair MMA Academy in the statement.

According to Wolfslair, Bisping was OK with the insulting videos that Rivera and his camp made in the run-up to the fight, saying he understood those as just an attempt to hype the event. But Bisping thought Rivera and Phinney crossed the line with actions and comments during fight week.

"The real problems begin in the hotel in Australia. As always fighters are staying in close proximity in the hotel for over a week and during the day the camps pass each other," Bisping says in the statement. "Normally the fighters will be tense with their opponent but the teams always remain neutral and polite. Rivera's crew were mocking mike and laughing at him and
Jorge even gave an interview to Fanhouse saying if Mike was a man he would confront him in the hotel. This situation was the reason for the emotional weigh-ins and throughout the catalyst was Phinney. In fact Rivera had two more coaches who never participated in any of this, they did act professional. It was always Rivera and Phinney."

So now Bisping and his camp went from calling Jorge & his camp classless to unprofessional.......They need to stop seriously......

That and he said he had problems with the videos because his kids saw it and his kids friends at school saw them, now hes singing a different tune and doesnt have a problem with the videos. He said he spit on the ground towards their corner but you can see he clearly spit at them, Bisping is doign himself no favors everytime he opens his mouth. Lets be honest here, Jorge wasnt ever on Bispings level as a fighter and Bisping needs to be adult enough to realize that Jorge is basically trying to make himself relevant by getting into it with him and therefore he should just move on and ignore him from here on out. He knocked him silly in their fight and the outcome would have been the same regardless of the knee, move on already.

                  Thoughts on the PPV:

                  - Australia has the best crowds by a mile. They even cheered loudly for Herb Dean.

                  - Siver over Sotiropoulous was the biggest upset in the UFC since Edgar beat Penn for the first time. I was stunned that Siver was able to stuff every single takedown.

                  - I'm not going to waste a lot time talking about the Bisping/Rivera feud but Bisping is correct when he said it would be back to the prelims for Rivera.

                  - I had Penn winning Round 1 (10-9), Fitch winning Round 2 (10-9) and Round 3 (10-8). Somebody needs to ask one of the judges why he scored Round 3, 10-9. The rematch will probably be for title but I have very little interest in seeing it. Fitch is so boring, his opponent doesn't even matter since I know it will be a snoozefest.

That Fitch/Penn fight is so polarizing. I had round 3 for Fitch 10-8 but I saw Dana on Espn and he was adament that there was no way anyone should have scored that 3rd round 10-8. He had Penn winning.

This is the problem you have when anything is judged. It's pretty subjective.

I thought Round 3 was 10-8 for Fitch but the round wasn't the same type of 10-8 as we saw in Edgar/Maynard Round 1 on Jan 1st. In the Fitch/Penn fight, Penn was never in trouble of getting knocked out or submitted during the 3rd round but Edgar was in danger of getting knocked out by Maynard in Round 1.

I've heard people say judges should be able to give half a point but I feel like it would make things more confusing and more fighters would get screwed.

Didn't someone say Fitch outstruck BJ 134-0 in round 3? I don't see how that couldn't be a 10-8. Fitch stayed busy and BJ literally did nothing but take punches.

134-0 while on top of an opponent without knocking them out? Plus, this is all coming from the bigger opponent.

Fitch got on top of him, good. 134 strikes without putting it beyond doubt is pretty weak if you ask me. Fitch was just throwing little BBs instead of bombs. Considering his cardio is "through the roof," it just shows much more that he's not that great of a fighter.

You think Spider, GSP, Cain, Brock, BJ, Jose, Edgar, Randy, Chuck would be in that same position for 4 plus minutes, land 134-0 shots, and not finish that fight?

I can see where Dana is coming from and I can see why he's hesitant to give Fitch that shot.

Getting KO'd or not, being punched 140 times in the face by someone over 5 minutes absolutely sucks. Imagine if someone was on top of you just constantly punching you in the face for 5 minutes.

BJ is notoriously hard to finish and his face never shows any damage so you can't say that those shots didn't do anything. Look at how discouraged BJ was after the fight. He knew he just got his *** kicked.

I agree with you that he got his a** handed to him in that last round. I was just pointing out why Dana's comments on ESPN weren't so far fetched.
