    EA MMA: How to play?

i really like this game and i've had it since release, but the problem i have is it's too easy to play against the cpu. even on the toughest difficulty level, i know i'm going to win the title with in each fighting company with ease.
how do you guys keep offline play interesting? (i don't enjoy online gaming) i think the game is great, but i just can't enjoy doing career after career with little chance of losing more than 2 or 3 fights.
any suggestions on how to keep it fresh?

Unfortunately that's the number one problem with EA MMA. Great fighting engine but I found it way to easy to beat the CPU, and online it was nothing but a hook spamming cheesefest. As for your question I could not find a way of making the game more difficult and online got old fast. Traded my in.

As much as I think EA MMA is a great game gameplay wise, this is the one area where UFC has a better and long last career mode that can also be replayed several times.

Hopefully both franchises can fix the issues that they have which each of the other does better and we can have 2 good games.

I fight online religiously, and yes, there are time when you'll run into hook-spammers, but I find challenging fair fights more often. Additionally, hook-spammers are ripe for take-downs and GnP. I too considered selling the game, but did not, and am very glad I didn't. I'm having a ball trying to get my record back to 500; win title belts, and defend them as long as I can.
What I like about this game is that when I lose, I know why, and it is usually because I wasn't disciplined!
Granted the hook-spamming is annoying. I just look at these guys as filler, because not everyone is going fight the kind of fight you want. The challenge is not to lose to the spammers. They are very beatable!
If you want to come online, I'll be there --- thorne666 is the GT.
I find the game to be fantastic.

thanks for the input thorne. the thing about playing online is... it seems like there is no context placed around the fights. career modes place context to the fights. online fights just seem too random for me to get excited about. some are good... some are bad. some opponents respectable.... others not so much.
anyway, i prefer to stick to offline myself. i hope you continue enjoying the game

Good question. I've been on the fence about buying the game for the reason you bring up; the longevity and difficulty of offline play. I don't want to get the game and then a week later regret the purchase (like I did with WWE SVR 11, which got traded in) because the CPU just wasn't a challenge.

Re: EA MMA: How to play?

I only play friends online because ranked games are bull-****.

In "Fight Now" I play with HUD off. This helps because it prevents me from blocking transitions or throwing body shots until I see that my opponent's stamina is empty and performing a major transition.
I also fight the way I see the fighters fight on television. I pick my shots and feel my opponent out instead of coming out firing every fight. If I'm using Brock Lesnar, I don't try to stand and bang. When I use Anderson Silva, I don't try to take my opponent down and work my way to mount for a knockout via ground and pound, etc.

I'm having a blast with this game and I haven't even touched the Career Mode!

I can barely win on medium so I guess it helps to suck. Try sucking a bit more.

I actually had more fun playing the offline mode then playing ranked games online. Online turned into..."Oh let me throw 23948712983379823479 hooks until 4 solid ones connect and yeah I won." Traded it in right after beating the career mode.
