UFC 09, UFC 10, EA MMA

Hey guys I am interested in getting into an MMA game. In your opinion is either UFC 10 or EA MMA a big step up from UFC 09? The pros and cons of each would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Undisputed 2010 is a huge step down from 09. I liked EA MMA, but feelings on it are mixed. I would suggest checking out the demos or gameflying them if that's an option for you.

I had both at one time, but i traded in UFC (not because i dont like it-just not playing it)

I really like MMA better because of the fight-engine; much faster and realistic, and the game graphics are wayyyyyyyyyyyy better

UFC is cool if you want a GREAT UFC-REALISTIC Presentation and I think just about every UFC contracted fighter there is, is in the game
But it just plays a little slower, and doesnt have as many offline features
and online sucks compared to EA-MMA online (not as intense)

MMA is awesome. You can realistically create any UFC fighter for your game to use (off or online), with its super-intense create-a-fighter feature, plus the career mode is supersweet (an you can use the fighters too)

obviously I'd recommend mma, but if you havent already, rent both and decide for yourself

        UFC 09 was pretty solid.

UFC 10 was an insult to the sport, videogames and customers.

EA MMA is dang good but there's not as many moves and the such and despite having walkouts the presentation isn't as good but I think it has the best career mode of any of them.

EA MMA is way mor realistic than both 09, and 10, but there is a lack of strikes, and positions(missing single collar tie and various others). And the presentation is basically non-existant. The carrer mode is boring IMO.
09's standup is great, but the clinch system is bad, and fighters don't age in carrer mode so you fight the same guys over and over again once you get to the top of your weight class.
10 was a HUGE letdown. Thats all I have to say about that.
I don't play online much, so I can't comment on that.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I will just go with UFC 09'. I have some experience with it and I am at the moment just a casual follower of the sport.

One last question, can you set up tournaments against the a.i. in UFC 09?

i respect that youre a casual fan and made your decision

if i could just add one more deciding factor on why i made my decision:

the ability to precisely create fighters (that are in the UFC)
if it werent that, I'd most likely prefer UFC10 or 09

with that said, i like both, UFC has the ultimate presentation factor

I'm pretty sure you couldn't do tournaments in 09.

I can't really agree with that. LIke I said it was way more realistic, but it lacked the "fun factor" for me. There were some real design issues with EA MMA too, like how strike animations would cancel if you got hit, or if the other fighter would shoot. Both UFC games had a lot of problems but most of them could have been fixed in a patch, or even before release, if THQ wasn't so lazy. It's a damn shame none of these games had sliders.

I like both communities and both games are different, ea mma is much harder but ufc is for more casual fans.

i have to say, before EA decided to TRUNCATE the CAF features in their game, i thought it was hands down, the superior MMA game available

funny.....i had ufc10 (& 09), traded it in for very little, then went back an bought it again, and now ive really spent some time with it and the different modes, title, title defense, and CAREER MODE!!! very very cool mode, vastly different from eamma but great in its own right

whats TOTALLY different, are the CONTROLS, but i admit, even I, and many others have this community-wide perception (not just OS) that the controls and various modes are too complex and sophisticated, but that is not true at all; once you learn/somewhat-master the controls, UFC is a freakin awesome game

Currently, im in love with Career Mode and Title Mode

If you could care less about the fighter roster, i'd recommend EAMMA, its an easy game to pick up an play
IF you WANT the BEST FIGHTERS in the WORLD, go for Undisputed2010, the learning curve isnt a cakewalk, but well worth the investment of time and money (currently 19.99 at walmart!!)

I own all three and EA MMA is by far my favorite. I only play offline at the moment and the career mode is really fun. Once you perfect a task you can simulate it from then on so it's not overly repetitive. This can result in finishing a career in about 5 or 6 hours but you can always do each task to make it last longer if that's what you prefer. Any fighter can have any special move but you can only learn 16 total out of around 25. Your base stats depend on your chosen discipline. I chose Sambo and started with high arm and leg submission stats and a weak chin and kicks, making it easier to improve in certain areas. Each stat also maxes out at a certain point depending on the style (Sambo Arm and Leg subs max at 100 and punch power maxes at 95, for example). The result of the training system is that you could go online and have two Sambo fighters rated very different based on their training. Some people will learn to make the most of the weeks given and build much stronger fighters.

Downside to career is that it is only 40 fights before retirement and you fight CPU created fighters the majority of the fights.
