25 Ways to Make the EA UFC Game the Best MMA Game Ever

If you have been on the EA MMA forums lately, you've seen the talk about EA UFC really heating up. Still yet, it could be a year or more before we see the first edition of an EA Sports UFC video game...

i thought that was poorly done. A lot of it was him saying, UFC Undisputed did this well and it should be in EA's game or give us the option to do this the EA way or the THQ way. Where he lost me was when he says, have legends and include Fedor in there and then in the next slide says they need to have a woman's division.

It's almost as if he doesn't realize this is a UFC game. Fedor isn't and never has been a UFC fighter so why would he be in a UFC game? And why would they include the women's division when the UFC doesn't have a woman's division?

I really liked the last UFC game. It was the best MMA game to date IMO. It had some things that could have been better of course but i felt it was a much more realistic and better representation than EA's MMA game they put out which i thought was bad.

If it's going to be "EA UFC", I think the likes of Fedor or some MMA legends and a women's division wouldn't be part of it since it connotes an exclusivity to fighters who've fought in the UFC only, just like the case of THQ's Undisputed series. Whereas if it's going to be like "EA MMA 2 (featuring the UFC)", perhaps they can include them in the game (Fedor and all) because the name MMA embodies all the different organizations involved in the sport aside from UFC, IMO.
The UFC would NEVER allow them to not include the UFC name in the title of the game. I will be called UFC _____ .

It's a UFC game. The UFC wouldn't have signed on with EA to do a game that wasn't UFC only when THQ was already doing that for them.

The UFC doesn't want Fedor in their game if he's not in their organization. You're talking about a company who wouldn't even put Randy Couture in the game because he was in the EA MMA game.

You're talking out of your ***. They didn't have Randy in the game because he was signed by EA to do voice overs I believe when him and the UFC were at odds. THQ didn't have his rights to use.

They could have put Randy in UFC Undisputed 3.

ESPN: “That deal [with EA Sports] is over now and the [THQ] game is getting ready to come out with a new version. Obviously, they’d still like to include me, me being a guy in their Hall of Fame. It’s certainly something we’re looking at trying to work out and I think it will probably happen.”
Couture was featured on the cover of EA Sports MMA and signed the contract with the company in 2008 when in the midst of a contract dispute with UFC. A sequel is no longer expected from EA Sports due in large part to Zuffa’s (parent company of UFC) purchase of Strikeforce, the brand heavily featured in that game. Taking on Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 this weekend, Couture has made public his intentions to retire following the fight.
His exclusive deal was done way before UFC 3 came out.

Thats not true. EA still held his rights. Thats why he said its something "they are trying to work out". THQ wasn't able to make a deal for his rights so he was left off UFC 3.

then how come Couture himself in that quote i just posted said his deal with EA was done?

His deal was done by the time the 3rd game came out. That's a fact, Randy himself says it.

Although UFC 129 will be the final time Randy Couture competes in the Octagon, it is likely fans can expect to see him compete again—this time, however, in the virtual Octagon...

During 2008, Couture was in a contract dispute with the UFC and ultimately signed with EA Sports to appear alongside Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko in EA Sports MMA. The deal with EA Sports prevented Couture from appearing in the past two releases of UFC Undisputed. Now that Couture's contract has expired with EA Sports, he said he is available for THQ's next installment.

I'm just going off of what two people at THQ (one a developer, one a press guy) told me. They have no reason to lie. He was still under contract and EA wasn't willing to let him out of the deal.

i'll take the word of the actual person we're talking about, not 2 random people at THQ, no offense. If Couture says his contract was up then why am i not going to believe he knows his own contract and believe 2 THQ guys know it better than he does.

It's been documented in numerous articles that the contract was up, Couture himself says the contract was up and he was negotiating with the UFC but you'll just ignore all that because of what 2 people random people at THQ said.

couture, fedor, arlovski, shamrock, et al. might be in this new ea mma/ufc game (crosses fingers).

Cross them all you want there will be no Fedor. This isn't a MMA/UFC game. This is a UFC game. Why would the UFC leave a company making a game solely based on their company to go to another company who would be making a game using guys not in their company?

You think Dana and Lorenzo want people playing a UFC game with Fedor in it when he never has even been in the UFC? You think Fedor is going to sign on for a UFC game even though he's not in the UFC.

Some of the others you mentioned maybe as Legends but there is 0 chance of Fedor being in a UFC game when he's not and never has been in the UFC.

Actually it hasnt been documented in "numerous articles." Those articles assumed that Randy's contract was done because it wasn't likely that there would be an EA MMA deal. Also your original statement was BS. You have NO evidence that the UFC refused to put Randy in UFC 3 because he was in EA MMA. This is a guy that since the EA MMA was released was put in the Hall of Fame by the UFC, appears at tons of events on the UFC's behalf and appears on UFC created programming regularly (Fox studio shows and Ultimate Insider).

So your theory is that even though the UFC has shown zero ill will towards Couture after EA MMA was released, that they would refuse to put him in the game out of spite? LOL. Really? Couture is actually someone who could help the sales of the game but the UFC is so spiteful that it would refuse to include him in the game but still use him to promote the UFC in other ways? Think about what you are actually saying.

Also the "random" people at THQ worked on UFC 3. So I think they would be in a position to know what happened. If it was an issue with negotiating with Randy, they would've said so. Their response was the EA contract was problematic because it wasnt just for EA MMA and because of that they werent able to come to a deal. Still, believe what you want.

i'll agree my original statement was BS about them not putting him in the game out of spite because he was in EA's game but i'm not wrong about his contract being up.

RANDY COUTURE HIMSELF SAID IT. Who do you think knows Randy Couture's contract situation better, Randy Couture or some programmer at THQ?

I'm sorry but i'll take Randy Couture's word about his own contract situation over random people working on the game. You choose to believe your buddies at THQ because they're your buddies, doesn't mean they are correct. When Randy Couture himself says his contract with EA was up and he was negotiating with the UFC to put him in the 3rd game then why would i call him a liar and trust the word of people not named Randy Couture?

Re: 25 Ways to Make the EA UFC Game the Best MMA Game Ever

                              Lets go back to 2008:

Randy Couture believed his UFC contract expired and stated so repeatedly in multiple media sources. The UFC stated that his contract had not expired and had 2 more fights on it because of his championship clause. The UFC successfully filed in an injunction and prevented him from fighting for any other league.

Now RANDY COUTURE SAID HIMSELF that his UFC contract had expired and even began negotiating with other promotions. But in the end, Randy was wrong about his contract. Sound familiar?

Couture isnt a liar. Thats not even the argument I'm making. Its just that he's been wrong twice about his contracts. The UFC contract is perhaps the most significant contract in his life and he still was wrong about how many fights he has left. Now Randy is someone who had a fighting career, clothing line, multiple gyms, workout products and workout supplements. Tons of contracts for those deals, right? Yet, its out of the realm of possibility that he perhaps misspoke about a video game deal he signed 4 yrs before that contract? This is the same guy who was wrong about his UFC deal, right?
