EA UFC will have nearly 100 fighters

Get the EA SPORTS UFC 5 Ultimate Edition to stack your roster with fighters and Alter Egos.

Gotta say I'm really disappointed in that number. UFC 3 had more than that even if you didnt include the Pride fighters. EA UFC has a Flyweight division and a Women's division so it should have equal or more fighters that UFC 3. Assuming that there are like 98 fighters thats an average of 12 fighters per division.

This wont hurt as much if this game allows a large number of CAFs like EA MMA or Fight Night Champion assuming they fixed the issues with creating darker skinned fighters in FNC.

In FNC the roster was thin, especially in certain divisions, so I'm not surprised at this move. I don't think they have to sign fighters on an individual basis for this gamethough, so it sucks that hey aren't using a larger portion of the roster.

This does suck. I was hoping for a more Madden approach where every fighter could have a license to be in the game. But, as long as we're allowed 100+ CAF slots, with gameface plus sick websites and CAF makers like on MMA-CAF.com, it should be okay.

Yeah. The UFC has video game rights to every fighter on the roster. There is no reason there aren't more fighters especially with next gen having more memory.

Honestly, for me this isn't a huge deal. It'll be the top 10-12 in every division (With certain divisions having more, certain divisions having less). That's not a big roster by any means, but if there's a lot of CAF slots and a fighter share feature, I know I'll be set. I think EA has a lot of potential with this game. I was a huge fan of their MMA game and expect big things from them. Hopefully they expand on this in their next installment (assuming there is one of course.)

As long as EA SPORTS gets the best of the best in the game, I'm good with the roster of 100. That's still a lot of fighters, and it's been said how much more time it takes to get a fighter perfect for the XBox One and PS4. This number is honestly more than I expected, and I'm definitely ready to see who makes the cut. It would be great if they announce a new guy every day or two, since there are so many unannounced.

Thats the thing. If we have 100 CAF slots like in Fight Night, you wont hear me complaining.

Hopefully fighter share isn't useless like in Undisputed 3. We should be able to set the attributes as we see fit.

Sounds like they are setting up the perfect scenario to sell us fighter packs. Ugh.

Also, how screwed up would CAF be if they went the route of NBA 2K's MyPlayer?

I know you were one of the guys that did a league type thing with UFC 3, so imo they better have more for this game. There are hundreds of fighters in the UFC, and if I want to keep a "sim" going of events I need a lot more than 100 fighters. I'm hoping for at least 100 CAFs. Anything less makes it hard to keep a lot of the "known" fighters in this game, especially if you add in guys from other orgs like Khalidov, Aoki, Alvarez, etc.

Agreed. The same thing goes with fighter shorts and stuff that guys did an awesome job to look realistic.

Re: EA UFC will have nearly 100 fighters

This is not a bad idea at all. for a few reasons.

                      1. If fighters actually play different from each other this is fine.
                      2. Most people don't play with lower rated fighters...I have played online quite a bit...and I don't remember running into too many Sean McCorkle, Chris Lytle, Jason Brilz, Court McGee, Ross Pearson, Matt Serra, or Chris Carasio users. 100 fighters is about is the top 10 from each weight class. This makes TOTAL sense.

If you have the top 10 fighters (maybe top 10-15 from some tougher weights and top 6-8 from weaker weights) who actually play different with varying ratings and move sets....this is more than enough

Do you really think the #9-15 ranked flyweight or female bantamweight is worth putting into the game. Will that character add something that the other fighters don't have. Did Ross Pearson REALLY add something to the previous game?

I also hope the CAFS are done ENTIRELY different. I am sick of seeing CAFS rated in 90-100 with every offense stat in the 80s and no defense stat in 70s meaning that there rare not real weaknesses.

This is made worse when they have every sweep from the bottom and every unorthodox strike in the game. There should be a limit in total stats above 80. and a limit on certain high level unorthodox moves...possibly even a choice between moves....dudes should not have sweep in EVERY ground position. the irony is that I never run into a CAF user who is skilled at the game...when they play with a regular dude...they just don't have a clue how to play....in short fewer CAFS or reducing their abilities would go a long way to balance the game.

The problem is ur focus is only online. Plenty of is like to play offline and use every fighter in the game. I have played with the fighters u mentioned above MULTIPLE times over the past 3 years. So yes I want the number 9 bantamweight in the game.

A stats cap would be ridiculous too. U know how you avoid people with 90-100 stats? U play people you know and people who have sim interests. You don't play randoms.

I will be so pissed if Ea does what the did and cap create a player. As an offline player I can't create a fedor or a classic randy couture and give them the stats they deserve because random people want create 100 caps? That's bull****.

no...i say you should be able to create Fedor and classic Randy...just Randy can't have 100 strength, 100 submission, 100 striking....ditto for Fedor

Why cant I? I rarely play online. Why should I be restricted when it comes to creating a fighter because certain people create super fighters? Like I said....STOP PLAYING RANDOMS. That way you wont run into those issues.

I played a few matches against guys with CAFs on here and a couple other sites (MMACaf, Sherdog) and had no issue with those crazy ratings.
Like Aholbert said, avoid randoms with CAFs and you'll be good.

I'm normally an offline only guy though so if I want a guy that has 100 striking power, 100 submissions and 100 takedowns I should be able to do that. Just because people online cry about doesn't mean I should not be able to do that on my own.
