CM Punk has signed with the UFC

Straight from Dana Whites Twitter. I'm very shocked of this news and wish him well.

Will he be fighting in the "skinny fatass" division?
The New England Patriots cheated to win four Super Bowls.

Seriously? Why? I get that he's competitive, but why risk serious injury at this point when you could probably make good money just talking for a living. Just to stick it to Vince?

Because like Lesnar he's been given a chance to do something that he's always loved but never had the opportunity to do. If I'm 35 years old and get a phone call from a team in the NFL, I'm going. Why? Because it's something that I've always loved and wanted to do.

Oh, I guess coming in and taking precedent over guys who have been there when you have name value and will bring more eyes is fine in this case...?

Real question. Were PPV buys higher when Lesnar was on the card?

Wow I didn't see that coming. I give him props for taking the chance of stepping into the cage. I just hope he doesn't get seriously hurt.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think three of the top five highest-selling UFC PPVs were headlined by a Lesnar fight.

                      This is true.

Lesnar headlined in the the #1, #2 and #5 Most-Bought PPV's of All-Time for the UFC. I think with #5, it's tied with another PPV.

Which is funny because he was the main guy in WWE who was whining when guys like The Rock and Lesnar were doing the exact same thing.

Looks like UFC just jumped the shark. It's obvious that interest was waning or stagnant in UFC as a whole so they bring in Punk. I'm interested in seeing how it works, but I don't see Punk having near the success that Lesnar had,if he ever fights at all.

Significantly higher. Brock has headlined 5 UFC cards. 4 of them did over 1 million. The only reason the fifth didnt is because it was during the holidays and was held on a Friday because of New Years Eve.

Sports dont jump the shark. LOL. This isnt a TV show. There are peaks and valleys of interest with every sport except for the NFL.

Lets not act like Punk will be headlining PPVs. At best, his first fight will be the 4th or 5th fight on a main card. This was strictly a strategic move. Punk wants to fight MMA. He doesnt want to fight in the regionals. Competitors like WSOF and Bellator wouldve thrown big money at him to fight just for the ratings bump. This is a way to prevent that from happening.

Best case: He becomes a solid fighter with premade name recognition. Worst case: He loses a couple of fights, the UFC gets the ratings/PPV bump and he goes back to wrestling.
