MMA stars join forces for "industry defining" announcement 11/30
Hmm. Union? I'll be interested to see what this is all about.Tags: None -

Union probably. Shocked to see Cain a part of it. They still have a long way to go. They need 30% of current UFC fighters to sign on before they can be certified by the NLRB. On the plus side, this isnt a Zuffa regime anymore. If the Fertitas were involved they would never agree to negotiate with a union. IMG deals with Unions everyday in the entertainment world so they may be more willing to deal with one.
Funny that Bjorn is listed when he was anti-Union when he was the head of Bellator. -

This could be a few things, hope it's not a let down for huge industry defining news.
All CAA represented fighters I think. CAA is WME main competition and those fighters haven't had good negotiations with the UFC. So they form the union and use it to get back at their competitors. With the names involved, hopefully they don't just get used as pawns for the corporations.
With Bjorn there it is interesting. He wasn't well liked in Bellator, but he is a lawyer and has worked in sports law. I guess he does know the ins and outs of MMA promotions though.

Kind of cringing with the Bjorn stuff. What I gathered from today's news is he probably is not the right person. I think the fighters are all big names.
Even with all the big names this association seems like it could already have one foot in the grave because of Bjorn.
I can't imagine why it's UFC only, seems like madness. I think for real change to happen fans need to get involved in a big way.Comment

Fans never side with Unions though. Fans always seem pro union until there are strikes. When there are no games or fights, people eventually turn on the players and call them greedy. It happened in the NFL, MLB and NBA. It will happen here.
