    Let me say that again.
James "I can't get into the Top Ten because no one wanna fight me" Vick was just surpassed by Al "I just got manhandled for 5 rounds" Iaquinta

Jose Aldo is ranked 2. greatest featherweight in the UFC. on a losing spree, won 1 of his last 4 fights, all loses by TKO/KO.

Conor McGregor is ranked 1. Greatest Lightweight in the UFC. hasn't fought since 2016.

Mackenzie Dern got ranked on the strawweight rankings after beating Amanda Cooper as a flyweight as there was an uproar.

She's not top 15 after the stink about her missing weight.

Ranking is a joke ...just be a huge draw ...the UFC will push you . And if Dana doesn't like the champ ...you will get your shot .

                jeeez.

I get it though, the way the system works they need to tinker to get the rising stars through to meet the champ/1 contender. If you have a division with 4 (or more) really strong gatekeepers they're effectively killing the division. then you kinda end up with 5 older fighters fighting eachother and rematching and no one really advancing in the long run.

I wish the ranking system worked a bit different. where you have to get back in the line if you lose. not like Jose Aldo being effing Number 2 contender with 2 KO losses for a while.

I see Dana White pushing harder to get fighters back to taking fights. which is good, but the rankings need to punish inactivity more.

                Women's Flyweight:
                C - Nicco Montano - enough said...

                Women's Bantamweight:
1 - Holly Holm - 1 win, 4 loses... win was over 10 Bethe Correia who has lost 3 out of her 5 last fights. (1 draw), and only one win (split dec) since 2016. Also after the upcoming bout with Megan Anderson, Holly will have fought 3 out of the last 4 fights at Featherweight.
W Bantam is a bit hard to judge. I get that the pool is shallow.
2 - Keitlen Vieira - We really gonna throw this girl to the Lioness?
5 - Germaine de Randamie - Hasn't fought at Bantamweight in 2 years. Also last Win over Holly in a different division was controversial, as well as her reign as WFeatherweight champion...

                Featherweight:
3 - Jose Aldo - Fair enough, he's a legend, but he also got TKO'd 3 times in his 4 last fights...
8 - Korean Zombie - One win, One loss in the span of 4 years....

                Lightweight:
                1 - Conor McGregor - Hasn't fought in a year and a half...
11 - James Vick - 10 wins, 1 loss in the UFC. was recently passed by Al Iaquinta... who just lost...

                Welterweight:
3 - Daren Till - is the number 3 ranked greatest Welterweight in the world after Beating Cowboy, and kinda, maybe beating Wonderboy in the top 15. He jumped big names like Masvidal, Maia, Lawler, Usman. also fought at catchweight...
4 - Colby Covington - same deal, beat Maia, and Dong Hyun Kim and jumped the rest. I'll give him more of a pass though. 9 wins, 1 loss in the UFC.

Also I'm ok with them giving contender shots to people like Till and Colby to keep the wheels turning, but the way the rankings is set up currently it wants its cake and eat it too.

                Middleweight:
                3 - Chris Weidman - 1 win, 3 straight losses...
8 - Lyoto Machida - 2 Wins, 3 losses... wins were over newcommer Anders and old man Belfort. Is currently ranked over:
                9 - Brad Tavares - 4 wins in a row.

                Light-Heavyweight:
                1 - Alexander Gustafsson - 2 fights in almost 3 years.
                3 - Glover Teixeira - 2 wins, 2 loses
LHW might be the worst. A bunch of older dudes who fight once a year, and in the heavier divisions it's harder for the youngbucks to break through. they have to fight 3 times as often in a division where 1 punch KO is a legit thing. it's a massive disadvantage for them.

                Heavyweight:
same deal here. you have Francis who beat Overeem but got beat by Stipe who also beat Overeem.
                C - Stipe Miocic
                1 - Francis Ngannou
                2 - Alistair Overeem

I mean look at that. What incentive does any of them have to fight the lower tiered guy?

The implications of Saturday's fight for the WW division is just interesting .
