Re: UFC on ESPN+ 2: Assunção v Moraes 2
Should be interesting.
Assuncao is an interesting fighter indeed, he sort of slips under the radar but he’s obviously among the very elite at 135. He’s got a personality and fight style that’s not particularly exciting or intriguing to watch for some reason - even among the hardcore fans. I find it interesting how nothing particularly stands out about his skillset - he’s not know for his crushing top game, or powerful striking, or anything really. He’s just an incredibly consistent professional who always shows up to do his job.
I mean, a typical fight for him usually involves a lot of standing around in a defensive posture, stuffing takedowns, blocking strikes, and conservatively scoring points with counter strikes or brief lapses of grappling control. Nothing looks incredibly impressive, but when it’s said and done, no matter how close the fight was - he usually comes out with the W. I mean, I believe it was a split decision he won against both Dillashaw and Moraes. Both basically identical fights - Assuncao with super good defense, kinda nullifying the offensive tools of his opponent in the first round, then sorta-kinda edging the point battle in the final two rounds. Obviously Dillashaw solved the puzzle in an awesome rematch (completely penetrated the defensive game of Assuncao with some of the most creative feints and strike entries I’ve ever seen, arguably TJ’s best performance).
But still, the mere fact that Assuncao vs Moraes is a rematch of a fight Assuncao already won is crazy to me. Moraes has such an elite skillset, and to think Assuncao’s basic *** beat him just boggles my mind. Assuncao certainly is a fascinating case of “beat them with fundamentals”.Xbox GT: the relaxed guy -

How do you see the aldo fight ? I still would like to see a Aldo vs McGregor 2 . I doubt if notorious wants to come down to 145 anymore

Re: UFC on ESPN+ 2: Assunção v Moraes 2
The pacing has been so nice in the last two prelims since the move to ESPN+. I don't miss channel hopping with Fox Sports at all. Sweet early action today, there's some new talent I'm looking forward to following now. Said Nurmagomedov's striking was very impressive. Perez's finish was sick too and Hernandez still looked good in the loss.Comment

Walker v Ledet should be decent.
I'm not entirely sold on Walker yet, that said his win over Rountree was impressive. That was Rountree's first KO loss. Ledet is coming off his first loss but he has a pretty rangy jab. I would be surprised if Walker KOs Ledet as well, but that would the most likely path to victory for him imo.
Johnny Walker is the favorite, but I think Ledet will win an upset decision.Comment

David Teymur has been on a roll and Oliveira has been win some lose some.
Teymur impressed me when he beat Drakkar Klose. I think he wins by outstriking Oliveira. Oliveira has a chance of grabbing a sub like a rnc, but I still think Teymur wins by decision.Comment

Lol off to a bad start.
Good win for Oliveira tho. He was especially impressive on the feet. Had Teymur hurt a couple times even before the sub.Comment

Been bad picking against the Brazilians so far, but I'm going to do it again for Lyman Good.
I would like Maia to win but I think he is a bit past it and Lyman Good is coming into form. Maia's best chance is a sub as usual but I don't think he can do it against Good tonight. Lyman has pretty effective striking and I think he finishes Maia standing.Comment
