Smackdown vs Raw 2 Discussion Thread

Well, they are coming out with part 2, and while number 1 was a dissapointment (I preferred HCTP more) I am still picking this one up.

We'll start with the 15 confirmed superstars for this game.

Anything you wanna see changed or added for this game, post away.

    Batista
    Carlito Caribbean Cool
    Chris Benoit
    Christian
    Eddie Guerrero
    Edge
    JBL
    John Cena
    Kane
    Kurt Angle
    Randy Orton
    Rey Mysterio
    Shelton Benjamin
    Triple H
    The Undertaker

Good to know the main superstars are confirmed so far, hopefully they just add in the CW and Tag Titles this time.

Re: Smackdown vs Raw 2 Discussion Thread

July 13, 2005 - In a surprise move made by THQ's European division today, additional details regarding the upcoming brawler, SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 were revealed on the company's official mini-site -- all of which should come as good news for diehard wrestling fans.

Of course, the most important bit of news was that title belts could now be defended online via a "virtual WWE Championship" with career leader boards and a permanent ID system that tracks all of your user stats. Additionally, fixes to the season mode have been made so that players can now play through two full seasons without repetition, and superstar-specific storylines complete with voice-over have also been included.

Other interesting details included the revelation that there are more than 100 different match types, including the already-revealed Buried Alive contest and a still-mysterious Bar Brawl. New removable costumes for the divas have been added as well, so the guys who always wanted to rip off nurse, school girl, and French maid outfits from their favorite female superstar can finally do so in a legal way. Wrestlers and their environments have been given added functionality too -- with the ability to play possum and a new "sleeper hold submission system" joining fully customizable 3D locker rooms and an extensive create-an-entrance option. Brand new (unannounced) legends and three levels of blood will also be implemented.

As you can see the new list of features is pretty promising, but how all of it is going to work is a question we can't answer until we see it firsthand. Stay tuned for more as it develops.

----Now of course this is early, but IGN is still obviously credible and if these things make the final cut, I'll be pumped. This guys can bring out a great game, and SvR wasnt all that bad. Customizable locker rooms sounds like the Skybox for ESPN and the Crib for Madden, but it should be a fun little side feature. The ability to play possum probably wont be used much by me, but its nice that they are adding new features. Extensive create-an-entrance option is great news.

The online stuff is gold for the online freaks here.

Voice-overs better be done better than last year, but if done right are so much fun. Also, all those match types should add to an already top-notch exhibition mode.

Finally, a 2-year seaosn mode. UNfortunately I dont see them saying that it will be as non-linear as last year's, but still 2 years is good news. And player-specific storylines. This was rumored last year, but seems confirmed now.

I just hope they fix the CAW. Pretty much every CAW for the the first one looks like a ******** mongoloid.

IGN: Has Create-A-Superstar changed at all?

Cory Ledesma: I can't go into detail about that yet. We have made some significant changes to that mode, yes -- we've added a couple of new features and streamlined the interface -- but I want to save some surprises for down the road. Don't worry, though, we didn't ignore it. People are going to be happy with it this year.
That kinda scares me. Their definition of streamlined really means "dumbed down and stripped of features".

Other than that though the game look sweet and it seems they are really woring on the gameplay.

Re: Smackdown vs Raw 2 Discussion Thread

To celebrate this week's episode of WWE SmackDown, THQ has confirmed with us ten more WWE Superstars that will appear in the upcoming PS2 exclusive wrestling game, WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006. This brings the confirmed character count to 25 and accounts for just over half of the entire lineup (not counting the divas or legends).

As for the characters themselves, they include the oft-injured (but popular) Eugene, the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, the 7 foot-plus Big Show, The 5-Time WCW Champion Booker T, the crazy weirdo Heidenreich, the ex-Resistance member Rene Dupree, the heroic super guy known as The Hurricane, the balding brothers Doug and Danny Basham, and of course, the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.

Good good news. We have have the roster still due out, and we ahve the main stars along with some mid-carders and jobbers. Even better news, the Bashams, they may have a tag divison this year. If not I understand, because the WWE doesnt even have one now.
