Tony Atlas & William "The Refrigerator" Perry 2006 HOF Class

It appears as if the last two names for this year's WWE Hall of Fame have been officially announced.

Tony Atlas & William "The Refrigerator" Perry will round out the 2006 HOF class and accept their place in the history of the company along with fellow inductees such as Bret "Hitman" Hart, the late Eddie Guerrero, The Blackjacks, Verne Gagne, "Sensational" Sherri, and "Mean" Gene Okerlund.

Atlas has had a very storied career, debuting in 1974 as "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas. He has worked for several companies over the years and has won numerous championships. His biggest win in the WWE came when he teamed up with The Rock's father Rocky Johnson to defeat the Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika) to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. He also worked in the WWE under the gimmick Saba Simba in the early 90's.

Perry was only involved with the WWE for one show, but that show was Wrestlemania 2, as "The Refrigerator" took part in the over the top rope battle royal that featured some of the NFL & WWE's greatest superstars. In the end, Perry was eliminated by the late Big John Studd, but while he was in there, "The Refrigerator" made his mark to the WWE fans around the world. Perry will join Pete Rose in the "celebrity" win of the Hall of Fame.

Perry and Rose are such a waste of spots in a HOF that is for wrestlers. It taints the HOF.

      Agreed, very dumb.

Does this mean every celebrity that is brought in will be in the HOF?
You flip the coin at the super bowl your not going to the NFL hall of fame, I know one sport is real competition but the HOF should be a serious thing, with the Fridge is definately isn't.

Perry was in the WWF once. Rose, I could somewhat see a little since he made a few appearances.....but still, that spot should go to a WRESTLER.

I guess Atlas is finally out of the McMahon doghouse. He seems like a nice guy but VERY dumb.

As for the Fridge..."sigh". The only non wrestling celebrity that should be in the HOF is Bob Uecker (sp) He did a great job on WM 3 and 4. I kinda wish he kept doing WM. He was a pretty funny backstage interviewer.

You do know that this is the greatest HOF class in terms of overall greatness?

You can't really slam a class that includes Mean Gene, Bret Hart, Verne Gagne and Sherri Martel.

Honestly guys, this HoF will never be a true Hall of Fame. I'm not knocking it, because I like it myself. They could induct the Gobbelydooker, and it still wouldn't be a joke. It's a way for alot of guys to finally say good bye to their fans. Tony Atlas kind of just faded away through the years, but now he can finally put a final stamp on his carerr. And Perry is a media darling, you know they'll get a mention on ESPN for it. When he was announced for that Battle Royale at WMII, it was pretty big deal. He even had a little angle with Stud (I think) before the show.

And not for nothing, since they do have a celebrity wing, David Arquete HAS to be inducted. Ric Flair even said it in his book that Mr. Courtney Cox wore that belt better than most of the guys did at that time. Come on, he donated all the money he made in WCW to the families of Brian Pillman (who were in deep financial trouble) and...I can't remember, it was another dead wrestler. While David Arquete's title reign has always been considered a joke, he didn't make a mockery of it. According to quite a few people, he was a complete class act.

Who's next? Mike Tyson cause he punched Stone Cold Steve Austin? Oh, it's Ah-nold for punchin Vince McMahon. Let's leave the HoF for wrestlers and managers who are legendary.

Mike Tyson will be in next year. He gave the WWF SO much publicity when he appeared. It was like a three month angle, a whole lot more than just punching Austin. He desrves to be inducted in the celebrity wing, no question about it. It's not like this HoF is some sacred shrine to the greatest wrestlers of all time. It's a fun way to take a trip down memeory lane.
