Re: Breaking News: ECW Returning Full-Time This September

If they leave Dreamer and Heyman alone then this could be a VERY good move by WWE.

The only question I have is how much will it be broadcast nationally?

Can a mod merge this with the existing thread under the general wrestling board that I didn't notice until after I created this one.

      Thanks

But they wont and anyone who thinks they will is deluding themselves. Look what happened last time they gave heyman control of a show. Smackdown was so far supperior to Raw it wasnt even funny. So what did they do? Took the show away from Heyman and gutted Smackdown. Vince will never allow his baby(Raw) to be outclassed even by one of his own shows. His ego is just too big.

For the love of God I hope this news isn't true. ECW was already a huge embarassment in it's dying day, the last thing it needs now is to get the watered-down WWE treatment. Absolutely horrible idea here.

                  Re: ECW returning full time?!?!

I'm a little worried after reading that it's possible they'll be seen on Raw and SD. This means (a.) Instead of being looked at as competition, it'll just be looked at as a minor league. and (b.) If it's on Raw or SD, you know Vince & Co. will have their hands in it.

I hope they can just get an hour timeslot out of USA for it. It doesn't really matter when, until TNN, ECW was never very accessible anyways. I think I'd rather them have a 3am Wednesday morning spot than share a show with Raw/SD.

                    Re: ECW returning full time?!?!

                    From The Wrestling Observer website

Just a note that next week's Observer has a huge story on the return of ECW. We've got tons of details on how it happened and what the plans are. One note is that WWE's arena booking department today started calling smaller arenas to run "ECW" brand house shows for July, so that is the timetable. TV will be taped similar to how WWE did the Superastros show in the 90s, as prelim matches similar to or replacing Heat/Velocity on the Raw and/or Smackdown nights. They are right now attempting to put together a roster. Many of the wrestlers brought in for One Night Stand, but not all, will be offered a series of three one-year contracts (basically WWE offers one year, but if WWE wants or keeps it going, it has the option for two more years). From a news standpoint, with all that has taken place in the past week as well as other major news, it's going to be a big issue.
I already read that they have contacted Justin Credible, Lance Storm, and Sabu along with the other three ECW stars that were mentioned (Balls, Sandman, Francine). It is being reported that Sabu is down to a few more apperances with TNA before his contract with WWE and ECW kicks in.

As well its been said that Super Crazy, RVD, Kid Kash, and Johnny Swinger would all work for the new ECW brand. With Joey Styles doing the commentating if they got an ECW TV show.
