Re: ***Official Summerslam 8/20 Live Discussion thread***
Very fun night.
-Sabu Vs Big Show was quite possibly one of the worst matches I've ever watched, period.
-The Booker/Batista match comes close to the Sabu/Show match in terms of being incredibly crappy.
-The Flair/Foley match was insane.
-The part of the crowd I was in won every "wrestler points to different sides of ring to see who's the loudest" that Hogan and DX did.
-The crowd was pretty evenly split on Cena, but I will say the anti-cena people may be some of the most annoying fans I've ever seen.
-I called the whole Kane thing to the person sitting next to me right away.
-Happy to see DX still together, though it certainly seemed like Michaels might still be taking time off. He stayed in the ring for a good 3 minutes blowing kisses and waving to the fans.
-The Goldberg chants for Batista were awesome.
-Batista's pyro is so incredibly loud it's not even funny. My god my ears were rining for three minutes after that **** went off.
-Lilian Garcia is ****ing HOOOOOOOT in person. Speaking of that...the diva segment was a horriblr waste of time.
-Randy Orton's theme music is awesome.
-Did I mention the Sabu/Show match was horribly bad? Can Sabu do anything right? Drops the chair out of the ring...falls off the table...it was more comical than entertaining. And the Big Show is so incredibly slow. It took im 3 minutes to grab the steps and a table and put them inside the ring.Last edited by Beantown; 08-21-2006, 12:13 AM.Comment

Re: ***Official Summerslam 8/20 Live Discussion thread***
Ok so I just came back from SS, here are a helluva lot of impressions....
-Carlito got a massive pop in a bonus match against Conway.
-Suprisingly Chavo was more over with the crowd than Rey by a long shot, it sounded like most people honestly didn't know who Vickie was.
-Big Show/Sabu was ridiculous. It was fun I guess but Sabu sucked so bad it turned into a comedy show. Whether it was dropping the chair or not being able to stand on the table, the crowd would try to get a You F'ed Up chant that never made it.
-Orton/Hogan was crazy. Hogan got easily the biggest pop of the night and it was just insane. Orton got a huge pop too. A very entertaining match just for the one reason of seeing the Hulkster. No one knew what was going on with the 'foot on the rope' thing for a few minutes.
-Flair/Foley was incredible obviously, Flair let out quite a few obscenities. Foley was sort of a let-down. The ending sucked so bad, there was a huge Bull**** chant going on.
-Sharmell was asking for an execution with all those "Hail King Booker"s. Batista was obviously over huge and the match ended so lameEveryone was pissed. It may have seemed that the crowd was dead, but take my word, if it wasn't for everyone in the audience spending half their time trying to get the gold confetti from Booker's entrance they woulda been more into it.
- DX was awesome. Kane's entrance freaked everyone out but was awesome. The audio was really messed up at the Garden so we couldn't hear the whole HHH/HBK thing when they asked Kane for help. Shane got a huge pop.
-The crowd was maybe 65/35 Edge. I was actually looking for Cena to pull one out but the thing that really upset me was another lame finish to a good match.
Now for what really matters, the post-show recap.
-So me and my friend rush out to where the wrestlers drive off.
-Kane was the first to leave, allll alone, looking pissed, in a Highlander.
-Jillian Hall then left, and I screamed through her closed windows if she was Brooke Hogan cuz I couldn't tell. She just laughs and shakes her head, then I realizesd who it was.
-Gregory Helms threw out a peace sign.
-Matt Striker, who has a 'Randy Orton Prick' aura about him, left with a hotttt girlfriend.
-The highlight of the night, Candice, Torrie, Ashely, and another Diva all left in the same car looking smmmoking.
-Kenny came out, no one recognized him, but I screamed KENNNYYY!!! he rolled down the window and stayed for a few seconds giving some high fives. Seems to be caught up in the whole star thing.
-Viscera left with Charlie Haas in the same car.
-Cena seemed pissed or something, but for the whole "I'm a hometown guy for the fans' gimmick he drove off quicker than anyone. Came off as a massive prick.
-Lilian got a big cheer when she left.
-Trish left alone.
-HBK drove off, stopped, reversed, and talked for a few.
-Jerry Lawler got a massive pop when he left.
-When Booker and Sharmell left we all bowed and she did the beauty pagent wave and Booker did the King-like wave thing. Very cool.
All in all a great great time, great PPV, great seats, great post-show thing with the people leaving. Can't wait for Smackdown Sept 12Comment

Oh by the way, Shawn Michaels and Shane McMahon, mayyyybe even Vince, got legitimately injured tonight. Shawn killed his arm at one point on a little spot with Shane and didn't do much with it afterwards. The Superkick at the very least knocked Shane woozy for awhile.Comment

Wow, I was kind of dissappointed. The booking was good, the heels kept their titles as they should, but it was SummerSlam. I HATE it when the heel walks out of SummerSlam with the title. Hated it in '04, hated it in '97. But that's what happens when you don't book far into the future.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Re: ***Official Summerslam 8/20 Live Discussion thread***
I thought it was an alright summerslam. It was 10x better than the royal rumble (which was the last event i ordered) so I didnt feel as ripped off. I wanted Cena to win, but I could agree with the ending. Also wanted Orton to win, but i wasnt expecting it because god forbid hogan loses we know it be the end of the world.I was also hoping for a McMahon surprise guy costing DX the match, but all in all it was still a very good match. I dont watch smackdown so I could care less about the booker-batista match. And like previously mentioned Foley-Flair stole the show. Hell of a match.
All in all id give it a 6.9/10, and im excited for Raw tonight.Comment

Re: ***Official Summerslam 8/20 Live Discussion thread***
The ending was ridiulous. Everyone was pissed that Melina, who still has no ties to Foley other than being a friend, was the deciding factor in the match. In my eyes it was a lame ending, and in the eyes of all those fans it was a lame ending. Maybe on TV it was different. And I'll even go out and say, whether it was being there live and not seeing everything as well as the close-up camera angles you guys had or simply not having the same taste in wrestling, I thought the match was excellent, but not MOY.Comment

BTW, what is Foley's record in "I Quit" matches? I have him at 0-2 losing to The Rock and Ric Flair. Now I know those 2 are the epitomy of hardcore :y4:, but for a true hardcore legend, why do they job Foley in these matches?Comment

Re: ***Official Summerslam 8/20 Live Discussion thread***
I don't know what you hear at the event from the announcers, but at home they immediately sold it as Foley quitting to protect Melina from a crazed Ric Flair. I would suppose without that being jammed down your throat the ending seems awful. I for one was highly disappointed by it myself. Another observation, if Melina's gonna get involved shouldn't Foley's other buddy Johnny Nitro be there as well?

Also I wonder if a fued between Nitro and Foley will ever revolve, I mean Foley seems a little too close to Melina.Comment
