I was just thinking the same thing, lol

Starcade '95 is up there for me too, along with Super Brawl II.

Wow...chills just watching the entrances of the two.

Now THAT my friends...is how you build an angle. Eric Bischoff really was pretty awesome at it, when he was on his game.

And he sure as hell wasn't on his game booking the blow-off.

Nah, Bischoff was caught up in too many egos, including his own. The guy actually had a pretty good wrestling mind it's just that he never really knew how to end feuds. It didn't help that the main players in the company all had comprehensive "creative control" clauses.

This was the peak of WCW. It was also the beginning of it's downfall.

Re: Sting vs. Hulk Hogan Starcade 1997

The build up to that match was superb. I was into wrestling big time back in the mid to late 90's. I went to see every Nitro in the state of Georgia, and had a blast watching this unfold.

I was at a Nitro when Sting was with noone, then I was at one with him with Macho, then him with the nWo (he turned on them that night), saw him in the rafters at another, had him save DDP at one, and the last Nitro I saw was the one leading up to StarrCade.

Bret Hart showed up to give Hogan a gift, a head in a box, then Sting appeared over the Nitro sign/entrance way, and zipped into the ring.

Awesome night, Sting took on Hogan, and Hall and beat the snot out of the both of them. Even did some talking, and "Owws" at the crowd. So it was pretty cool.

Then came this match at Starrcade, and the match absolutely blew. The booking was absolutely horrible. I always felt that Sting should of dominated that match, and won the world title without any question.

                    Ahh, I miss WCW.

                      Completely agree.

While the match is a fun watch in retrospective terms, it really was crap. The build for the match had gone on far too long at this point, the inclusion of Bret Hart making the final count was pointless, and the match itself could have been so much more. It really was the beginning of the end for WCW. The fact that Sting would actually agree to take the fall -- even with it being a screwjob non-finish -- is completely absurd. A year's worth of build, only for Sting to succumb to the Legdrop O' Doom? You gotta be kidding me. If there were ever one match that should have had a solid, clean finish with the face going over dominantly, this match should have been it. Instead, there was the not-so-fast-afterall fast count and the bogus finish that ensued. Good job, WCW.

And don't even get me started on the rematch the next night on Nitro.

It was such great build up to this match, I remember reading the results in the next day's newspaper. Thats how hot wrestling was then.

I remember how badly I wanted to see the blonde Stinger return that night... I just could never get behind "Crow" Sting. I think WCW completely undervalued who Sting was to the fans back then and put waaaay too much faith in Hogan, Bret, and all the other fading main eventers... as well as the nWo over time, evident by the B Team. Disco Inferno running with Hall & Nash???

Hollywood's entrance music still gives me chills till this day. Oh how I loved that entrance!

I still think that is probably the best entrance music that came out in the late 90's.

Well that, Razor Ramons, Ultimate Warrior, and I like the Rockers.

IMO, THIS was the downfall of WCW...

Again...a huge angle that ended with a crappy finish. This could've been so much bigger than it turned out to be. The whole nWo Black & White vs. nWo Wolfpack...all ending with this ridiculous "finger poke hear 'round the world".

God I got so pissed that night. Almost stopped watching wrestling all together because of it.
