Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
I've never owned a PS2 so this is my first chance at SD vs Raw. I love the controls. The moves are pretty easy to pull off, reverses work nice, and the environmental grapples are fun as hell. I like that you can get in on the action and pull off some amazing moves without having to mash a bunch of damn buttons or have to be in a certain spot to pull a specific move off.
I've already slammed Kane's head into the steps, bashed his head in with a trash can and chair, raked his skull with the barbed wire baseball bat, and choked him out with the TV cable all within my first 30 minutes of the game. I was also able daze him enough to lay him out on a table and jump off the top of the speakers.
My only complaint so far is they went a little overboard with Kane's chokeslam. He can seemingly pull it off at any time, especially after reversing grapples. It's kinda dumb to be chokeslammed 3 or 4 times a match.
Other than that I'm having a blast with the game. The controls are easy to pick up and the graphics are top notch.Comment

Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
Also, my favorite move of the night. I was able to fake injury in the middle of the ring. Kane had just knocked me to the ground, so i started tapping the button. As he approached and tried to pick me up off the mat, I held down A and reversed his grapple and was able to roll him up for the 1, 2, 3.Comment

Man that's pretty realistic. I don't think that's been done in the other SVR games.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
Ive got one question, are all the load screens for the demo only or will it be like this in retail? It's not majorly annoying, but it's a minor nuisance to load before the intros, between intros, before the match, and after the match as well.Comment

Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
There's a barbwire 2x4 on the right side of the ring.
Can do Shane O Mac's announce table elbow drop.
Type C in options = old controls.
Can do auto finishers on/through the regular wooden table after irish whipping them into it.
Can't seem to do anything on the stage.Comment

Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
Got a little late on this demo but wow. I'm just blown away. Just had a 32 minute match with Kane and lost at the end once we ended up back in the ring. Reversed my move right into a choke slam and that was it. So much interaction, throw people into the crowd and the popcorn goes flying, ripping signs, using almost everything around you as enviromental weapon, just amazing.
At first the controls were odd but that's normal. I'm a quick learner so after plugging in a second control and taking some free shots I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the new grapple system.
Also while in ring, after doing the pedigree on Kane I did one the ref and after he got up he didn't walk normally anymore. He was grabbing his side/back. Nice touch.Comment

Re: Smackdown vs. Raw demo impressions
Dumb question, but can you download this demo with the XBOX Live that comes free with the 360? Not sure what it's called (I think the yearly membership with everything included is Live Gold), but I haven't bothered even hooking up Live once since i've purchased my 360, so any help is appreciated, as I REALLY want to try out this game after all the great impressions.Comment
