    Samoa Joe Leaving ROH

Samoa Joe announced on the ROH Newswire that he's being "forced" to leave ROH. His last match will be the Liverpool show.

I guess that TNA money is getting good. Either that, or Joe realizes he'll be out of wrestling by 30 if he keeps this pace up. Or maybe it's both?

Or maybe Dixie Cups and Double J put their foot down?

Who knows, but the decision to have his last ROH match in Liverpool kinda got me PO'd. Unless, they don't want the Philly and NYC crowds turning on him and starting anti-TNA chants.

Well thats certainly a kick in the balls for ROH.

Kinda funny though since when I mentioned something like this happening a year and a half ago at the ROH boards I was dismissed as a crazy person. There was just no way in their minds that Joe would ever choose TNA over ROH. I can just imagine how thing are going over there. Half the people are going nuts and the other half(the ones that dismissed me so easily) are already talking about how overrated Joe is and how ROH doesnt need him OR any of the guys signed with TNA for that matter.

      Re: Samoa Joe Leaving ROH

Samoa Joe may be pro wrestling, but to me, he's Ring of Honor. He epitomizes that company, and his title reign pretty much brought me back into wrestling before I knew what the promotion was all about. I gotta be honest... I'm shocked, I really didn't see this coming. I was naive enough to consider TNA's "lighter" schedule a non-threat to Joe, Homicide, and the rest. I'm hoping that it's not going to be like losing CM Punk, and we'll see Joe ... and less importantly, AJ Styles, back in ROH sometime again.

But thinking about how this affects the company, Samoa Joe is clearly the biggest figure in the company's history. Low Ki was a big lost, and CM Punk even bigger for the cult-like appeal he brings... but Joe was always the mainstay. He didn't miss a show until '05. Now you have to wonder if Homicide will feel the temptation when his title reign comes to an end... and by my speculation, it probably won't be all that deep into the second half of the year.

Half of me wants to use this as an excuse to stop buying DVDs (it's gotten REAL bad). But the other half is very, very curious to see how ROH deals with this and see who will step up to evolve their product. Because if it's Jimmy Rave, or even Davey Richards, I'm just not buying it. And to think...not having Joe on that show in Japan with NOAH... that's AWFUL. In a company dominated by junior heavyweights, Joe gave ROH worldwide credibility. And realistically, who could even take on Morishima or some of the bigger guys like Misawa with any believability? And then there's the KENTA/Joe buildup that's left dangling minus a 3 way in which KENTA was knocked out for half the match. The more I think about it, the more I think how upsetting it is that I won't be able to see Joe wrestle to his style and his ability again. This is a brutal blow for ROH, but it's hard hitting for wrestling altogether the way I look at it.

        I'm sick.

        Horrible news, ugh.

ROH can survive this though, they survived guys like Punk, London, Low Ki, Daniels and Gibson moving on.

Losing Joe is absolutely huge and a tremendous blow but ROH will live on.

        Still.....this sucks....bad.

I guess it's only a matter of time before Cide and Aires are next.

          RoH will survive.

In better news I get to see Joe's last show in the US

RoH has talent, and hopefully others will get their chances now.

Why wouldn't he just go to WWE if he can't work independent shows.

He had a chance to go to WWE when CM Punk signed and he chose to go to TNA. He recently signed an extension too, guess he wants to be a part of the future of pro wrestling ...

Or maybe he wanted to raise his stock so he didn't get buried in the midcard? We don't know.

And oh yeah, did you hear the one about Joe badmouthing Vince Russo at an ROH show? He said he hurt his knee by "tripping over bad booking". LOL!

I actually watched some recent TNA shows and it is brutally bad. They need to get rid of Vince Russo.
