Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

Despite other reports, PWInsider reports that the cryptic promos airing for January 2012 are meant for Chris Jericho. News came out last week that talks fell through between WWE and Jericho. Also, Jericho recently said he would never wrestle for WWE again and when asked what he would be doing in January, he said working in Hawaii.

Word is that the deal between WWE and Jericho is not done yet but Vince McMahon wanted to get it out there now. WWE officials want Jericho on the RAW brand to help boost ratings.

It should be noted, however, that Chris Jericho responded to a follower on Twitter today, denying the claims that he will be appearing on the January 2nd RAW from Memphis. Instead, the former WWE Undisputed Champion claims that he will be some 4,000 miles away working in Hawaii. Of course, Jericho is no stranger to working the Internet.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

Chris Jericho says in an interview with Wrestledope Radio that he has several Hollywood projects lined up for early next year and would only return to WWE if there was an individual he was interested in working with. He explains, “For me to go back to WWE, I would have to have someone that interests me personally. You could say any name—it could be CM Punk, it could be The Rock, it could be Funaki. But, to me, it’s like I’d have to feel it. Right now, I’m happy doing the stuff I’m doing.

“When I’m finished with this tour, we’re doing a new record and I have a bunch of stuff going out in Hollywood that’s kinda coming to fruition. I had to leave that block of time open, January, February, March, April, May.”

Jericho, however, is open to returning “someday” and says he likes CM Punk’s work. He says, “Punk is great and he’s doing a great job, but as of right now, as much as people don’t want to hear it, I don’t have any plans as of right now to go back to WWE. I never said I wouldn’t go back; now is just not the right time for me.”

Jericho was also asked whether another promotion could ever be a legitimate competitor to WWE by rising to their level. He doesn’t think so.

“I don’t think it’ll ever happen because WWE is such a machine at this point. Vince could leave this earth tomorrow and it would still continue on. I think it’d be, not impossible, but you’d have to have a lot of money behind you and it’s not like it was ten years ago when there were guys working in Japan or over here or in ECW or whatever that you could bring it. Pretty much everyone that’s any good that’s worthy of drawing money works for Vince now,” Jericho says.

“So, if you were going to go and open up another company, you almost have to have so much money that guys can’t turn you down, kinda like it was with WCW back in ’96 or so. But, it’s not going to happen. I really don’t think. I think Vince is the monopoly for the business and there will always be second-rate or third-rate, but let’s face it, everyone wants to work for Vince McMahon, I don’t care who you are. Hulk Hogan wants to work for Vince McMahon. Dixie Carter would probably work for Vince if he offered her a job. TNA could be a good second, but they’ll never be first. And anyone who actually says it with a straight face is probably just saying it as bravado.”

As far as this promo vid goes, if it's anybody but Jericho, it will be a letdown. I don't think it's Taker. He's nothing more than a novelty act at this point who wrestles once a year. Bringing him back before the Rumble seems way too early. I don't think the E wants to risk an injury to him before putting the streak on the line at Wrestlemania.

Punk vs Jericho at Wrestlemania would be a must buy for me.

Sure as hell better be Jericho. Definitely will make it worth being in attendance. Save us from Cena, Y2J!

Did Jericho really make that big of a difference last time he returned?

I like Jericho, but I'd much rather see masked monster Kane return.

Rather? Kane is going to return whether Jericho does or not so that's not completely relevant. I still doubt Kane wears the mask... it lost it's intrigue over a decade ago as they steadily broke down the character.

                Full mask and no voice.
Oh wait! He can speak with a device.
He's healed! He can speak completely.
But there's more! His face isn't as burned as we thought so he can wear a half mask.
And that's not all! He isn't really burned at all... and he got a really bad hair cut.

I'm saying monster Kane. Not just Kane returning.

Besides, we're not supposed to remember that far ago. I'd even say some little kids would vaguely remember

Kane was a monster and WHC just a year ago. Im all for Kane returning, mask or no mask, but it's not an either or situation as far as Jericho or Kane.

                    Speaking of Jericho...
As things stand, don't expect Chris Jericho to return to WWE any time soon, as recent negotiations have hit a snag. In the latest rounds of discussions, Jericho wanted a part-time deal that would him allow him to do outside projects and exclude the company from getting a cut of his other ventures. Vince McMahon feels that WWE made him a star, and should be entitled to a cut reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. There are also major creative issues between the two sides that is said to be a major part of the issue. NBC Universal pays WWE handsomely for the rights to air Raw and Smackdown and consider personalities that appear on their networks apart of the NBC Universal talent roster. There were eyebrows raised when Jericho appeared on "Downfall" and "Dancing with Stars" since those shows aired on a rival network.

Oh and FWIW Jericho's work from his heel turn and feud w/ HBK to his WHC reigns was pretty damn good, he totally reinvented himself and went from being one of the most over faces on the roster to the most over heel on the roster. And his feuds w/ HBK and Mysterio were some of the best of his career. Not to mention JeriShow and making the tag titles relevant again...I'd say he made a difference the last time he came back.

I thought WCW made Jericho? I thought I remember reading that Raw's ratings didn't go up or down significantly when Jericho returned? I could be wrong.

You really think Jericho would have been able to do things like DWTS if it wasn't for his time in the WWE? And anyone short of Rock, Austin, and maybe Hogan returning isn't going to make that much of a dent in the ratings. I don't see that as a reason not to want Jericho to come back, especially since he's still one of the best in the business and always good at putting on great matches.

You know I never said to not want him back, right? It was my own opinion of rather seeing 98 Kane than Jericho. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to really dispute since my own opinion about which wrestler I'd rather see isn't going to change.

But there is no rather. Kane is coming back, period. Jericho is a who knows at the moment. It's not like it is an either/or situation where WWE can only bring back one.
