Same. I miss wrestling and not sports entertainment. Yes I know they've featured athletes before, but know I feel it's like a parody or something. FU McMahon.

Not trying to be 'that guy', but wrestling (Wrestlemania at least) and entertainment have always been intertwined, from the get go. Mr T/Hogan vs Piper/Orndorff at WM I? Any match Shaq has is likely going to be a throwaway and not for anything other than bragging rights. I'd personally love to see Show/Shaq, since they did meet in the past (and I was entertained - shocking, I know.)

I don't know how people can still be so defensive about celebs interacting after all these years, this is the same company that allowed K-Fed to pin the WWE Champ. Entertainment is always going to be the main ideal, this isn't MMA.

That's why I said what I said in the last couple sentences. It gets to a point where it's advertised as much as the main event. And I'm also speaking overall w/ the guest host crap too.

Yeah but like I was trying to say, WM has always been more of a spectacle than a pure wrestling event. It's always been about maximising the buys, not only from the hardcore fans but for casual fans as well. People love Shaq, and some would pay to see him if he faced someone like the Big Show. As if Rock/Cena wasn't already a draw, Show/Shaq would be one as well and would be 2nd highest in term of prestige to some (yes ahead of Taker's match and the Title matches even, depending on who was in them). At least Shaq is a real athlete (or was, lol).

Just in case you missed it in the general gaming section THQ might be done for and are giving back all their lisences.

You really think people are shelling out $50 to see Shaq wrestle? I have a very difficult time believing that.

Not specifically, but it would definitely be a part of the package. I certainly don't think people won't buy just because Shaq is on the card, which is what seems to be the thought when you say this kinda thing is ruining 'wrestling'.

There have been some pleasant surprises from professional athletes before. Big Show/Mayweather was way better than I thought it would be, it was actually a great match. Shaq's celebrity could easily draw some more buyrates and gain some notoriety from various sportscasts.

Never said it was ruining wrestling. I don't think it'll sway people one or another. I just don't like it or think it's necessary. Last years was the final straw for me in that regard.

Yeah like I said I can't prove one way or another that Shaq = buyrates, but it certainly will give them extra media exposure like Santino was referring to that even Rock coming back wouldn't give them. You can bet money that ESPN will cover whatever happens with Shaq at WM. Exposure doesn't hurt (unless it's a Benoit situation.)

Face it, WM is a mainstream event. Has been since it's inception. Just like the Super Bowl has the commercials and the Halftime Show to keep casual fans interested, WM has celebs come in to draw in casual fans. Not saying it's a great thing, but I don't see why people constantly are surprised and/or upset when a celeb at WM is announced.

LT/Bam Bam was decent too. I don't mind athletes in matches, as long as its 8-10 minutes I'm good.
