What are the odds they take the hood off of Samuray Del Sol?

I was at Evolve 22 last night and Gargano unmasked Del Sol before making him tap to the GargaNo-Escape. It was funny but before it even happened a couple of us were chatting about how it would be funny if they beat WWE to the punch and just unmask him before he gets to NXT. (Only saw the back of his head though, for the record).

By the way, I'm happy for Del Sol, but I do selfishly wish he had stayed a bit longer on the indies because there was a ton of stuff he could have done still -- really a special talent.

That is kind of funny. That was his last Evolve match right?

I almost feel he should have stayed in the indies a little longer, he didn't seem to do much, but he is a really special wrestler. He's such a small guy anyways he's almost gotta keep the mask.

I think he could be what Mistico was not.

Yeah they hyped it as a potential Summer of Del Sol because they said he would stick around and defend the belt if he beat Gargano, but it was not to be.

Damn, I saw that they were hoping for a Summer of Del Sol. But I recently saw he was finishing up his dates and reporting to developmental next month. Damn, did they acknowledge it as his last, and give him a big send off?

I don't think he cancelled any dates. I think Sami Callihan had to cancel a couple. He's reporting soon ish too.

                  The future really is bright.

It's only as bright as the writers make it.
They're still looking for a new head writer. Whoever is handling NXT is doing a good job. I assume the logical choices that are already employed may not be so co-operative.

I don't think there's as formal of a writing team for NXT. Dusty does the booking, and it seems like they just have more free reign.

No, nothing too out of the ordinary. Folks knew it was his last Evolve match so they cheered, but the focus was more on Gargano and his heel-ish ways to retain the title after both just couldn't put each other down. Really was a great match.

(Honestly, there wasn't one bad match in any of the three Evolve shows, they did a bang up job and have a ton of talent right now running through there.)

I believe it's just one head booker and then maybe one writer, but it seems to be a mostly HHH/Dusty production. As much as I'd like that to be the way it goes for Raw/Smackdown, I think there's too much TV to have such a small team.

I guess Del Sol didn't have a huge indy legacy like Punk, Dragon, Black, or Generico...so it makes sense that he just moves on.

And That is true, NXT does 3 or 4 hours of taping every month, where as Raw is 3 hours live every week, and SD similar, so they need a bigger team, just wish it was more minds like Dusty, H, and PS Hayes doing the majority of the writing, sick of these soap opera writers.

                            NODQ stuff:

According to Dave Meltzer, there is talk in WWE of having John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Title as the main event of the Money in the Bank PPV in Philadelphia. While things could change, right now it's expected that Bryan would remain a babyface for the match.

Meltzer also speculated that this match would be part of WWE's plan to give John Cena "legend" status by having him beat The Rock, survive Ryback, and wrestle a possible match-of-the-year with Bryan in a short period of time.
                            - The Triple H concussion storyline was reportedly pushed up from this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view. This could mean that the Triple H vs. Curtis Axel match was planned for SummerSlam but is being done at Payback now.

                            - Vince McMahon's new idea in dealing with the NBA destroying them in ratings is for someone to try and get the 2014 NBA schedule ahead of time so that WWE can book Monday dates opposite of NBA games in "hot" cities like New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and others.

Vince's idea is that if RAW is going up against a strong game and wrestling fans tune in and see, for example, a Philly crowd going nuts on RAW, they won't switch the channel.

That's actually not a bad idea for combating the NBA playoffs next year out of Vince.

Won't help with Monday Night Football kicking his ***, though.
