I don't think everyone will, but he'd be the most high profile newcomer in the last 8 or 9 years at least. I don't think he's instant main event status, but he could make an impact.

I've never watched a single episode of any TNA event and I still damn well know all about AJ Styles. Simply put, if you've never heard of AJ Styles then you're not a wrestling fan. That may sound "smarky" to some, but it really isn't. The guy was the PWI Wrestler of the Year a mere three years ago. Thats as high profile as it can get. I don't know how anyone outside of the absolute lukewarm, extremely casual fan could have possibly never heard of him. As far as proven commodities are concerned, he would be the single biggest outside acquisition the WWE has signed since WCW folded.

Having said all that, I highly doubt he will ever work for WWE and is merely trying to get leverage for his final big payday since he is 36 years old. I'd really enjoy seeing him work with guys like Ziggler, Punk, Bryan, etc. but unfortunately I just can't see it happening.

I know plenty of wrestling fans who don't know what pwi is and have no idea who he is. Yeah WWE is really gonna take that guy and throw him into the biggest storyline it's had in years.

I'd love to see a bunch of TNA talent in the WWE, but I just don't see it happen. I was sure The Dudleys and Hardy were going to make the jump, and they went and signed new contracts.

Also, I'm glad they're dumping the Hell in a Cell PPV.. It was stupid, and other than the Elimination Chamber PPV, I thought it was stupid to have a PPV dedicated to a match.

I just can't even fathom that.

Did these same people not know who Dean Malenko was in 1997 (the year he was PWI Wrestler of the Year) either?

There is a difference between a wrestling fan and a strictly WWE fan (that's not me being smarky, it's the flat out truth) though. However, if you get enough WWE fans together talking about wrestlers, etc. someone is bound to mention guys from outside of WWE and Styles is the top guy right now and has been for several years. He was "word of mouthed" to me many years ago so I checked out his stuff on YouTube and the guy is ****ing legit, man. PWI didn't name him Wrestler of the Year just to be different, he earned it.

When I was younger PWI was a mainstay in my house.

Also, I have never watched a complete TNA event, but I love AJ Styles. Not a huge fan of his new ish tats though lol.

PWI wrestler of the year is a kayfabe award, Miz got it a few years ago and Cena has got it 3x. Don't know why you keep citing that.

And yeah it's different w Malenko since Wcw in 97 is bigger than Tna has been at any time.

I'm not saying that styles coming to WWE wouldn't matter, but people saying he'd jump right into main event is ridiculous. Even Danielson/Bryan didn't do that and he is/was imo more well known and flat out better performer than styles.

Same here, man. Even to this day I even occasionally snatch one off the magazine stand at the grocery store every now and then. I wouldn't waste a penny on the WWE Magazine though.

I had a subscription to both at like age nine though.

Yea, I've got to agree with rick. Using Malenko as a way to legitimize the fact people should know Styles doesn't work since WCW was way more mainstream, especially in 97 than TNA could ever wish to be. Given he's been in TNA so long, I'd guess that most newer fans haven't heard of him unless they watch TNA. Even my dad might only have heard of him in passing, but he gave TNA more of a chance than me so it'd be understandable.

I would love if Styles would go to the WWE. I'm a huge fan. for a time he was the only reason I would tune into TNA. But I'm with you guys, sadly I don't think it will happen.

I just grew up watching WCW, WWF, ECW, AND WWE.. the main stream wrestling that's most important to the childhood me and the adult me.

I've seen bits and pieces of TNA and I know who AJ Styles is, but I don't know anything about him and I don't have a ****ing clue what PWI is without using google.

Then again, I'm not really concerned about whether or not someone else thinks I'm a fan of wrestling.. it's not that serious.

That's honestly part of what's wrong with fans as a whole, fans spend a lot of time concerning themselves with who knows more about what.

AJ Styles missed the boat on jumping ship. Much like alot of guys at TNA. Hes one of those guys who will not leave that company until it dies.

There's no way Bryan was more well known in the states than AJ Styles before WWE. AJ has been on tv every week for years. We all make jokes about tna, but it gets a ton more viewers than RoH.

As far as comparing him jumping to the guys that have stayed in the past, guys like Angle, the Dudleys, Jeff Hardy, etc., those guys had all got their big payday. Jeff Hardy alsi wanted the opportunity to explore other interests, which TNA is more supportive if, not to mention him and Angle's drug problems.

I don't think I would recognize him if he randomly showed up on my TV one week unless they stated it was him.

I wasnt talking about old WWE guys going back, more Roode, Samoa Joe and Abyss like guys when they were younger. They all stay TNA and grow old there. Its a waste of their best years imo. They would be lucky to get work with WWE at this point.
