Looking back at his career, I just can't buy that they didn't treat CM Punk MORE than well. Compare him to 95% of the rest of the roster, what does he have to complain about as far as his career has gone (not how others have been held down; him)? And Punk Cena was great. All those matches were high profile, and highly received/praised. It didnt happen at mania. Regrettable but not a career defining crime.

If he's gone for good, and it feels like he is, he's got a nice legacy in WWE. Maybe not all it could have been, but that's hardly his fault.

And like I said before, I'm genuinely scared of how much they're going to bury AJ now. When the most over people in that division get 5 minutes of TV a week at the most, it might be a hell of an issue if they suddenly have motivation to punish you just to send a message.

I know, I know, I'm not supposed to care about women's wrestling. Sue me. I kinda do. Pretty much because of her. So I'd hate to see her buried because Punk took his ball and yadda yadda.
Just for the record, it looks like she was set to drop the strap pretty recently as they've been pushing Naomi over AJ alot. So brace yourself for that. Just remember they gave her the strap for a record length. Its time to put her on ice imo.

Woke up this morning to this news. Being from Chicago and seeing his growth from indy wrestler to WWE main eventer is nothing short of amazing. That said, if he isn't back by the March 3rd Raw in Chicago, I'll believe that it isn't a work. The timing of the two most beloved superstars of the internet wrestling fans creating so much buzz in 4 days seems too good to be true.

He made it more than known all he wanted was to go on last at mania. There's a reason he was able to hold up the company. He's one of the best workers in the world. He was one of the best in the company. But because he doesn't have enough muscles, or his dad or uncle weren't wrestlers, they don't truly push him. Yes he had a huge run with the strap, but the title wasn't the most important thing in the company a lot during the run.

Did he go on last with the title at any PPV where he wasn't wrestling Cena or Rock? I can't remember if he did or not.

This makes me think he'll be back before his contract is up. He's clearly pissed at what the WWE wanted him to do, so he'll probably go home for a few weeks and return before WM or right after. I just can't see him leaving completely before his contract runs out, but I could easily be wrong. If his heart isn't 100% in it, then that puts others at risk too. I hope we see him back, but if not, he will be missed majorly. I just hope he finishes out his contract somehow.

What would he do at Mania though? Bryan's about to take his spot, why would Punk come back for a match with, say, Sheamus?

I think Daniel Bryan/HHH makes ten times more sense than CM Punk/HHH anyway, and I think that's the best move for business. CM Punk has more beef with Kane than HHH, and while it's not really high profile, there are far worse things than a CM Punk/Kane match at WM. There is still a lot of time before WM though, and another storyline could easily be drafted up a month before the big event.

That being said, it probably makes more sense to have Punk come back after WM to finish out the last few months of his contract. The guys like Brock Lesnar and Undertaker will disappear again after WM season, and CM Punk will be needed big time. That's my two cents anyway. Any card will be better with CM Punk on it, that's pretty obvious. But if he wants to take a break for a couple months, let him. He'll at least finish out his contract feeling a little refreshed, and who knows, he may even extend for another year or two. He's pretty burned out right now, I think we can all see that.

That really, really sucks. It's going to be hard to replace what Punk did for the company. Not only was he a great worker, but he sold A LOT of merch.

I've been entertained by Punk over his run and I really like him as a performer. However if all this is true, this just goes to show that he's no better than Shawn was in his heyday, he's just like Triple H and the others with the rep they have. He rode that "Voice of the voiceless" crap to superstardom and in the end he doesn't give a **** about other guys succeeding, he's worried about what's best for CM Punk and his close buddies.

Remember when people were jumping on Rock's back for "going home" after Wrestlemania? Funny how going home can be justified now.

Punk works more time on average per week than Rock has since he's been back.

Well, as they say, if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Punk nearly walked in 2011 because he didn't like the direction WWE was going, and bringing back The Rock and handing him a main event spot in WM with Cena a year in advance had to have rubbed a lot of guys in the locker room the wrong way. Granted, Rock is still a big draw, but that move showed how willing WWE was to push aside the guys that are on the road 24/7 for part-time performers.

Look at last year's top WM matches:
                                Rock (PT) vs. Cena (FT)
Lesnar (PT) vs. Triple (PT - performer)
                                Undertaker (PT) vs. Punk (FT)

There's something wrong with that equation.

Punk, from what I've read, also wasn't happy that he was rushed back into action last year after WM. He was hoping for a much-longer break than the 2 months he got. It showed in his performance, outside of the SummerSlam match with Lesnar.

I just don't think his heart is in it anymore. Why would he want to bust his butt and do all the house shows, media and everything else that comes along with the gig, only to see all the WM spots being given to guys that haven't been around the business for years, and clearly do not have the respect or passion for the business that a guy like Punk does?

It was looking like he was headed for match at WM with Kane. No disrespect to Kane, but that's not a high-profile WM match for Punk. Yes, they gave him the WWE Championship for over a year, but he was just holding the strap until The Rock came back so they could set up the Rock-Cena rematch.

The pipebomb was a huge moment in time, but it's clear that the "change" CM Punk was pushing so hard for is still a long way from becoming a reality. For every Punk and Daniel Bryan that manage to claw their way into the main event picture, there's guys like Batista and Lesnar that will always be given preferential treatment.

I certainly hope he returns at some point because I've enjoyed his work for years. For now I hope that he enjoys his time off (if he's gone for good), clears his head, heals up from the nagging injuries and does what he wants to do.
