Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

On the topic of Punk. I finally got around to watching the Best in The World documentary which I know is old but I still feel for the guy a bit. He was/is very passionate about his work and that's not to say other guys aren't just as passionate as he was.
He had ideas for his character and only he knew what he wanted to say and do. Personally I like the way some of his things went when he had input and say so. I only caught the tail end of his stint with WWE before he left but I liked what I saw. If you have a passion for something you wouldn't want anything getting in the way of that vision or whatever.
Do I have a problem with how he left, yes but the only person who really knows why is Punk. If he comes back great, if not that's fine too.

I dont see anything wrong with that.

If Rock went to hollywood and completely flamed out and returned to WWE full time, his outside WWE career would be considered a failure. I think thats what Heyman means when he says that about Punk. Punk put his foot down and left wrestling for greener pastures. If he has to crawl back to it, he failed. I agree with that logic.

I wouldnt doubt Punk could have a marginally successful career in entertainment if he really went at it. He has a look when he cleans up and I think he could be an alright actor (I guess idk). But I dont see anything that suggests he wants anything more than light work in his life right now.
      Pretty much.

I'm still trying to figure the notion that always gets mentioned on here that the dude can do no wrong and gets nothing but praise here.

Maybe if they can get Ric cleaned up he could be her manager/talker for the most part. I have seen her use a bit of Ric in her style, the chops in the corner and the wooo I've seen her do a few times...of course her entrance music. I'm sure WWE would play to that a bit but I believe she could handle it....maybe even a stable call the 4 Dams lol

It'd probably be a little easier to take if I liked him. As a performer, he's amazing. His character was great, and he's a phenomenal in ring performer. But from what I've seen and read in interviews and other accounts, he seems like a narcissistic ***. And leaving because the spotlight isn't on him the way he felt it should be, and this thing where he'd be a "failure" if he went back kinda feeds into that notion.
WWE doesn't give any of its performers notice when they are cut. Would it have been the professional thing for CM Punk to give WWE a notice? Sure, but I have no issue with him leaving when he did; it's not like it was the week of WrestleMania. He left after the Royal a Rumble. If it wasn't for Punk leaving, there's a chance that Bryan doesn't wind up wrestling Triple H and for the World Heavyweight Championship, so there's that aspect as well.

Until CM Punk speaks on the matter, we will never truly know why he left. He did retweet this from Rip Rogers:

"The most important thing in life is your health!!! Lose it and nothing else matters!!!"

Wrestling straight-edge for 20 years has to take a tremendous toll on your body. From the few appearances he has made recently, he looks 5 years younger. There's also the mental aspect of being on the road all the time.

People quit jobs every day. Not all give a notice, and that can be for a variety of reasons. If you get to the point of no return, it can be best for ALL parties that you just walk away.

You have to consider the fact he was an indy darling and we know how smarks latch onto that and act like he can never do wrong, im not saying that he shouldn't have walked away and we may never know the whole story, but if your gonna shart on lesnar and rock for choosing to walk away for their reasons shart on punk too

The WWE doesn't give notice. You're right. They still have to pay guys the guarantees svc royalties though. The guys getting cut aren't typically making a lot of tv or ppv appearances anyway.

I'm not even saying Punk should've stayed until Mania. But to let them know hours before Raw is messed up. Especially if he wasn't even going to show up to that show.

And the "people do it all the time" excuse is b.s. That doesn't make it alright.

                    The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

I mean to be fair I don't think the NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL exactly give notices when they release a guy. I actually don't think many places at all give people notices when they are being let go

That's a pretty BS excuse. He had a contract he either should have done it out and left on good terms for all or just talked to everyone about the sudden retirement.

Lol if Punk gave notice, they would have embarrassed him in typical WWE parting ways fashion. I would have left before that too. Yall have too much time on your hands to still feel some type of way about this. And I dont even like Punk.

I cant stand the hero view on Punk and thought that was the epitome of absurdity when the CMarks were banging that drum back in Jan/Feb.

And now I cant stand the people who are still holding this against CM Punk. Its over you guys. Who cares how he left at this point in the game? You guys are really too into this 2 weeks notice thing. WWE barely flinched when Punk left so his abruptly leaving didnt ruin WWE either. So the "he should have honored his contract, or gave notice" thing is overblown imo.

Oh hey cool, yet another dude on the internet acting like someone is having trouble getting to sleep at night about a message board discussion. People don't need to get over anything. The topic came up based on people still chanting for the dude, not because we're just sitting here still hurting inside because Punk is gone. Miss me with that tired spiel man.

I'm just going to insert my two cents into this...

People need to get over the chant. Whether it's being chanted ironically or because they want him back, they need to get over it.

He left. He's gone. I was a huge fan of his, but when he walked out he wasn't thinking of the fans. Let's all just get over CM Punk the wrestler and enjoy the current product in all it's ****ty glory.
