Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread

What a waste it would have been if Mysterio was "booked logically" and never had matches with anyone that wasn't a cruiserweight. It's not like Mysterio was winning tests of strength against the Big Show or Kane.

The problem was that he seemed to almost always win matches against big guys like that. I know it is wrestling, but it is a joke when someone a fraction the size is pulling upsets left and right. I know they advertise him as the biggest underdog or whatever, but come on. I'm supposed to believe someone who is the same size as I was at age 10 can take out those guys?

The only run where he really won matches like that 'left and right' was his WHC run after Eddie's death. Even in WCW he eventually was booked to beat guys like Nash and was booked differently.

There's plenty of times where he's gotten his *** whooped by guys like Batista, Khali, Taker, Cena, Kane. It's not like he beat those guys every time he faced them, so the whole 'Super Rey' thing (just like the Super Cena thing TBH) is overblown.

Heck it only took me 5 mins to find Rey getting his arse whipped by some of those guys.

        Kane

        Khali

        Batista

        Taker

I get that the 619 is kinda a goofy move, but 1. It's been shown to be easy to block/reverse, and 2. It's not an automatic win every time he hits it.

Didn't he also add the Frog Splash after the 619 on occasion? Helps somewhat

Were you really over 170 by the age of 10? Gosh, I bet you could take out X-Pac and Spike Dudley by the age of 12. The Ryback style.

And never mind the fact that every top babyface ever became "Super" when the chips were down and they made a comeback. Shawn Michaels is revered for it while it's a detriment for guys like Cena and Mysterio? That's as absurd as the whole "Rey sux cuz he speaks Spanglish!" argument.

WWE Rey looks like he swallowed WCW Rey whole.

Yeah, the 619 was always more of a setup move than finisher. Much like the Stinger Splash. Mysterio would follow up with a top rope body-press, leg drop, or hurricanrana.

Youre confusing frog splash with flying plank splash

At the start of middle school, I was 5'6 and 165 or so. I was 10/11 years old. I didn't grow much after that. I'm only 5'10 and 180 now haha, and that is 11 years later.

And the difference with Shawn is that he was a heel for a good chunk of his career. He was on the losing end enough times that his comebacks just don't stand out as much. I don't think Rey has ever been a big-time heel at all in WWE. Cena has been face for god knows how long now. Those guys, it seems that more often than not, they are in babyface super comeback mode.

The Rock and Austin fit that boat as well. The 'super' face coming back to win after getting whooped for nearly the whole match is practically the oldest trope in all of professional wrestling. I don't know why people still get upset by it or are surprised when it does happen.

True, but in Cena's case at least he does lose a fairly good amount of big matches. Rock, Batista, Orton, Edge, RVD, Booker, Sheamus, Punk, the list goes on, are all guys that have gotten wins over Cena in big time matches. Not to mention jobbing out to the likes of K Fed and Johnny Ace. Cena
probably loses more than any top face in recent memory.

As for Rey, like I said the only time where I thought he was sorta booked overboard was the WHC reign, and that was bc of the feelgood momentum after Eddie's passing. Since then he's really been more of a upper midcard guy, with a few World Title runs here and there but nothing substantial or long term.

I like Rey and will until he stops putting on good matches. He's had great ones with Miz,Jericho and Punk the last few years.

He had great matches with Ziggler and Morrison over the IC belt a few years ago too. I still don't like him though. :/

Rock and Austin? I remember Austin getting his *** whooped during those matches, but remember The Rock getting handled too. I remember this, b/c Rock always did his best flopping/selling against SCSA.

Against other wrestlers, not each other. Rock would frequently get destroyed, miracle Rock Bottom out of nowhere, and win. And of course there's Austin stunning the whole locker room.

That's different. You and Santino may not like it, but it is.

First, those two should not be compared in anyone to Rey. And like someone said earlier, at least when guys like Cena do it, it's somewhat believable. I'm sorry, I didn't like Rudy and don't wanna see it reincarnated in wrestling.

Go get the cruiser weight division together, have him head that up.

On second thought, I'd be his biggest fan if he came back and won the US title from Santino.
