Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread

Before anyone else that hasn't heard of him gets their hopes up it's NOT Tyler Black.

He was in WWECW in 2009. Appears there was an incident in January and he wasn't on TV since but had a couple of dark matches, looks like he hasn't had one since July.

Saw this one on JR's blog about a new King of the Ring tournament.

Professional Wrestling’s Hall of Famer and living legend Jim Ross is back with his powerhouse bbq products.

"Good to see the return of the King of the Ring which will be the apparent focus of an upcoming, 3 hour Monday Night Raw. The concept will apparently start and end on one night which sets the premise for the night and then will deliver the pay off with the crowing of a King of the Ring. At least that is my uninformed impression.

The first King of the Ring PPV that I ever broadcast was in 1993 and won by Bret Hart who then had a post match confrontation with The King while Mean Gene Okerlund looked on. That's three WWE Hall of Fame talents involved in the process which subsequently produced some compelling and entertaining TV moments. "

So I read that they are unifying the us and intercontinental belts. Have they ever done this? Will it be a new belt or will they carry around both belts?

I know a while back someone said they were going to unify all the belts I didnt think these would be included.

Does this have any impact on the "separate brands" concept like do you think it will end it?

Yeah, back when Foley was commish they did it. The IC Title remained and the U.S. Title vanished for a few years until Stephanie McMahon brought it back on SD.

The Hardcore title was also merged with the IC title. That was one of my favorite matches on Raw ever.

Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread

Unifying the United States and Intercontinental championships would be a bad idea IMO. The midcard in the WWE is better right now than it has been in a long time.

                    Midcard guys on Raw:

                    Daniel Bryan*
                    Evan Bourne
                    Ezekiel Jackson
                    Goldust
                    John Morrison*
                    Mark Henry
                    Primo
                    R-Truth
                    Santino
                    Ted DiBiase
                    Vladimir Kozlov
                    William Regal
                    Yoshi Tatsu
                    Zack Ryder

Plus any of the Nexus guys besides Barrett.

                    Midcard guys on SmackDown:

                    Chavo Guerrero
                    Chris Masters
                    Christian*
                    Cody Rhodes
                    Curt Hawkins
                    Dolph Ziggler
                    Drew McIntyre*
                    Finlay
                    JTG
                    Kaval
                    Kofi Kingston*
                    Luke Gallows
                    MVP
                    Shad
                    Tyler Reks
                    Vance Archer

                    -

Now, that is a lot of guys. Other than the guys with a "*" next to their names, I really can't see any of the other guys being elevated to main event status any time soon. I'm not saying that it will never happen, just not in the near future. If they unified the midcard titles that would leave about 30 guys to fight over one belt which is way too many. By keeping them separate (along with the brands) it is much better.

I think it's a good idea as it seems WWE is slowly moving towards having wrestlers appear on both shows on a more consistent basis, especially champions.

In other news, Meltzer is reporting that CM Punk has a hip injury and is likely headed towards surgery

But creative was told to think of something for Punk to stay on TV that does not include him wrestling.

I HOPE that means putting him at the commentary booth. He's so awesome in that role. I loved when he called that Bryan-Ziggler match on RAW. If he's on, that means we won't have to listen to Cole as much and that would be a good thing.

I'd be stunned if Taker didn't work WrestleMania. He's only missed 2 in his career. You have to wonder, though, how many more Manias he will be competing in?
