    IC Title falling behind

There isn't a title in the WWE which is getting the recognition it deserves, The worst case of this is the Intrcontinental Title. It's last two champions have been dirt, complete dirt. Not the holders, but the way they got the title and the way it was used. Umaga won it in a squash match against the best champion in recent years, Jeff Hardy. Once Umaga won it, the most he did with it was hold it and celebrate a win with it. He was in a weak feud to make McMahon bald, no point in holding the IC Title then. Then on Monday, they pick a random guy who hasn't got much experience in wrestling and practically hands him the strap, This guy isnt going to make an impact in the WWE, everyone knows that. They could have at least made Hardy, Crazy, Carlito or maybe even Shelton and give a good feud for the belt. This Caronelli is to make Lashley look good, No chance. They might aswell have made me champion. I'd be better than Caronelli, Lashley and even Cena. I wouldn't make an impact but at least I have the peice of crap.

That title's been on the downward spiral for the past 7 years. And you lose any argument by what I quoted.

Oh yeah, Santino is a good wrestler. Not anyone's fault that you haven't seen him.

Yeah the guy was just promoted from OVW, it would seem obvious he's in for a nice push.

I'm actually interested to see what they do with him tonight on Raw. The IC Title has definitely lost its luster. I think this guy could work out.

He's a good wrestler, as I watched him in OVW. They gave him a push there too.

That might be true, but there are more deserving guys on the roster than this guy.

Who though? They've put the belt on every worthy midcard guy on Raw that they have and it still meant nothing. The Hardy/Nitro cage match was good but I don't have any memorable title moments beside that recently. Nitro's push has declined, Jeff and Shelton are in tag teams, and Carlito's in a feud with Flair.

I second the notion of wondering "who" you think is more deserving?

I think they make this a feel good story, sort of like a modern day 'Invincible' in that every week he somehow does just enough to win his match as he gradually improves.

So your basically saying he is the modern day version of the 123 kid.

You've got that right about the IC title. Last time it meant anything was back in 2000 during the

                          Chyna vs. Jericho feud
Kurt Angle vs. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit feud

Then during 1999 it was whored around. Then 1998 and 1997 comes to mind when the last really truly timeframe that the IC title meant something before a big slump would hit for its future.

That is like 7yrs ago, then 9 yrs ago.

It's even more messed up when the title hasn't been defended in 5 years at a WrestleMania...........last time was WMX8.

123 kid was pretty much presented as just another jobber, until he started pulling upset after upset. It was actually a pretty original gimmick at the time. Remember this was around the time that pretty much the only matches on TV were between stars and jobbers had just ended.

Wow, some WWE trivia I think I may actually be able to pull out of my foggy brain... I believe his name in his first televised match was the Lightning Kid and he upset Razor Ramon, who was a pretty big name at the time. As most of you probably know, Waltmann and Hall were/are friends which probably facilitated the booking decision.

I remember watching it on TV and how it was made to be a huge upset, much like Santino's victory. Good call by whomever made the comparison...
