    ***ECW on Sci-Fi 7/3/2007 - Live Discussion***

After beating Elijah Burke last week, CM Punk is now officially the No. 1 contender to ECW World Champion Johnny Nitro's title. This week, both the champion and his challenger will try to gain an advantage on one another by picking each other's poison: Punk has chosen legendary ECW Original Tommy Dreamer to face Nitro while the A-lister has enlisted the brutal Kevin Thorn to battle the Straightedge Superstar.

Who will have the advantage after the smoke clears in this latest duel between two budding rivals? Will Nitro have something extra up his sleeve? Find out on ECW on Sci Fi.

Last week, Matt Striker wanted “Rowdy” Roddy Piper to help him celebrate his birthday – and got a pie in his face and some worms courtesy of Boogeyman for his trouble. Will Striker seek revenge against the man from The Bottomless Pit? And will the mysterious, gyrating worm connoisseur continue to stir nightmares in the Land of the Extreme?

ECW has been anticipating a reality check since The Miz was drafted to the Land of the Extreme. Will the former reality TV and SmackDown star finally make his anticipated in-ring ECW debut?

You can see all this and more on ECW on Sci Fi every Tuesday at 10/9 CT. Don’t miss it!

I loved his quote on wwe.com... something along the lines of maybe CM Punk should have a diet pepsi logo on his arm... because he certainly looked like he needed a few.

Do you guys think CM Punk will win at American Bash, I think he probably will, because I heard Nitro felt unconfortable how he won the belt.

I don't know... I think it might even be a DQ at GAB so Punk could get a big win at Summer Slam, but it'll be interesting to see what route the E goes with it.

Wow, other than the Dreamer/Nitro match, it's been a throwaway show.

there's only two matches so I don't see how it couldn't be anything but a bad show.

Did anyone notice they quit playing "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" as part of the opening.

Ya, I think so, and did you notice they didn't say anything during the vengence match about how Nitro took Beniots place. If I remember right at Vengence(I rented it) they say how he wasn't there due to personal reasons, I think they edited some of it out.

I actually enjoyed the two matches.

Nitro really has the skills in the ring. If he can just develop his character, he could be really good.

Punk has really come on in the last couple of months. When he first debuted on ECW, it almost seemed like he was just mailing it in and going through the motions. But ever since the Nu Breed storyline he's come on very well in the ring. Less slopiness, and more creative in his moves. Good to see. Now they just need to give him some mic time.

I am disappointed with the brand only being focused on Nitro and Punk. I understand the roster's thin and this is probably the only ECW match at GAB, but how is anyone gonna get built up to be the next contender if there's no one else involved in the show. Ignoring Burke and Cor Von is just uncalled for. And what happened to Vis's push? And the Striker-Boogeyman feud? I don't like it.

I enjoyed the show, but it was poorly booked.

Also interesting to note that on Raw last night, Orton kinda cut himself off when referring to himself as the "Legend Killer." It was something along the lines of, "I"m the Legend...well, you know the rest..."

I think Vince is being very careful as to what is going on television right now. The media's looking for every story they can get their hands on at this point

I think honestly an hour isn't a long enough show.

ECW just seems like it is lacking something. I definitely think it should be a 2 hour show. But I almost feel like they need another championship. Bring back the European belt or something. Even bring back the Hardcore belt, with the same falls count anywhere rules. It's hard to develop new guys when there is only one championship.

Two hours? No way. They have like 10 regulars and even if they called guys up from development, you can't put on a two hour show with wrestlers the general public hasn't heard of. One hour is fine, they know how to use.

Yeah the WWE is being careful. Anyone remember during the first Iraq war. The WWE had two shows in monday. Raw is War and War Zone. During that war they decided to change everything and just call it Raw for the two hours.
