I'm really surprised by this statement...................being a big TNA fan, what you just said makes me wonder where you are coming from. The "X" division was the biggest piece of marketing that TNA has used for years to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack.

WWE doesn't really know how to use their cruisers, unlike TNA which has done a good job with them up until the last 1.5 years. But do you forget, the "X" title is about NO LIMITS............its not just set for cruisers.

I vote this as post of the year here on OS.

It's funny to me, I'm not a TNA watcher by any means, but I know the X Divison. WCW could always market their cruiserweights, and TNA has been able to use the X Divison. WWE has never been able to figure out how to work them in. Just strikes me as funny, as TNA seems to be taking a very "WCW-ish" approach to itself, and now is looking like WCW's late years where they loaded up with old WWE talent.

OK, I've given this a thought for a while now. I can see in one way why they would do this. I am thinking that they are going to bring in a mid-card title, sort of like how the US title represented the #1 contender for the World Title in NWA/WCW. They have already established new tag teams such as MCMG, Sonjay/Lethal, and XXX is back. That takes care on 7 guys now moved to the tag title scene. This new title would add more credibility to guys such as Kaz, Joe, AJ, etc... and every year they could set aside one PPV that in which the man who holds the new title gets a shot at the World Champion. This would allow if the guy with the new title wins the World Title, ala Goldberg on Nitro when he beat Hogan, it could lead to an Ultimate X match or gauntlet, etc....for the vacated title. So really, it could work. All the guys would still be wrestling each other and it would be for a more creditable title and give them a reason to contend for the World Title. I hope this is TNA's motive at least. But if they are establishing a new title in the singles division, I think the same should apply for the tag division with the same concept.

What are you thinking? Losing the X Division is losing what gives TNA its personality IMO. Those guys have some of the coolest matches.
You have to remember Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were cruiserweights and they became damn good World Champions.

Exception and not the rule...I hope like you said they just create a new title and keep the same action, but if they're expecting guys like Shelley (who I like and find entertaining) to compete with guys Angle for the title, that's laughable. The mid card guys would have nothing to fight over and would get lost in the shuffle. You can't have everyone in the World Title picture, then it's just a cluster****

Heat, even if their creating a US/IC type title it doesn't mean that they need to eliminate the "X" title. I see the "X" title as a cross between the "Cruiser" and "Hardcore" titles. You have the high flying action, mixed with some smaller and bigger guys, that also sometimes include hardcore elements to the matches. TNA would be stupid to get rid of this title..............but wait, TNA has been making stupid decisions left and right lately.

Yeah, but who hasn't when it comes to this industry. Besides, TNA has been making stupid decisions since day 1, and they are still here and on the verge of a 2 hour show. So, what we see as stupid, the people on the other side of the fence are seeing it as progress and living up to their standards. Otherwise, TNA wouldn't be going 2 hours. Oh well, I'm looking forward to tonight and Sunday. Should be a good week for TNA regardless.

All wrestling federations make mistakes, but I don't think that TNA should be messing with one of their formulas that has brought them success since their inception. WWE can make mistakes and get away with it, TNA isn't anywhere near the size of WWE so to make mistakes its not the smartest thing.

Just like this whole Joe vs. Angle feud.............it was done over 9+ months ago and it was handled so poorly from the beginning that now they just screwed up their entire federation for 2 months in a row just to give all the titles to one guy. Of course, they messed up the T3D vs. Steiners feud without having any tag titles on the line.

Lots Of Hard Justice Press Expected, Killings Return
                    08/10/2007 by Ryan Clark

According to reports, tons of press have asked for credentials to TNA's Hard Justice PPV this Sunday in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios regarding the debut of Adam "Pacman" Jones. ESPN has asked for a feed for "SportsCenter" as well.

Ron "The Truth" Killings is scheduled to return to TNA this Sunday. Killings reportedly quit the company back in June after the Slammiversary PPV along with Konnan, but had remained in talks with the company since then.

Reports and rumors of the demise of the X Division in TNA are said to be not accurate at least as of right now.
