Can you really say CM Punk is getting a push when he's jobbing to The Miz and John Morrison?

The only way they can make anything out of him with the MITB cash in is to turn him heel and have him win after the champion was decimated previously. I definitely think they need to make him a heel and I guess that would be the best way to do it.

MITB, wins over Jericho and Matt Hardy, appearing on all three shows and going toe to toe with Edge twice...it's some type of push. One that doesn't make sense because of that loss to The Miz, but it is a push.

He hasn't really been de-pushed and he certainly isn't being "burried".

I agree he isn't being burried, but this is definitely one of the strangest 'pushes' I have ever seen. And to think if Paul Heyman had his way Punk would've won the ECW Championship at December to Dismember.

Wow, this is the most active WWE thread here in a while... Just goes to show that when it comes to MVP, big things poppin', little things stoppin' or something like that...

The singles loss to Miz certainly was a puzzler. Wasn't it (relatively) clean as well? I can see losing to them in tag matches, but a clean solo job to him surprised the hell out of me. Maybe that's what they were going for or maybe they figure that Punk's over enough with the majority of fans that it really doesn't matter if he loses now & then, even to The Miz. BTW, I'm actually almost a fan of his now as he's really improved since coming to ECW. Since I'm giving out compliments, I might as well say that Punk has improved his in-ring work as well...

I won't argue with that. They've had tons more character development than Punk and I've been high on The Miz since development, but Miz is a midcarder. As long as Punk is holding that briefcase he shouldn't be losing clean to midcarders.

I just have to think that this is the low point and they'll build him back to ME level for when he uses the briefcase to change to Raw or SD. I agree that it seems really weird, but maybe they're just letting the briefcase simmer for a while, rather than a quicker/earlier use like it's usually been?

I agree it was odd booking. I don't think it would have been so bad if Punk/Kane went on to win at JD, or Punk got a revenge victory the following week on ECW(granted I haven't watched ECW yet this week, so that may have happened, but I'm gonna guess not).

I really enjoy watching Miz and Morrison though. They mesh really good as a team which makes them fun to watch...plus when watching their matches I get the feeling that I'm watching two future stars. It's fun.


As for Punk not getting much of a push since winning the briefcase, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Really, Kennedy received crappy booking after he won MITB last year. The only intriguing part was his "Countdown to Wrestlemania" which he only did the last two weeks before he got hurt...otherwise he was just lost in the shuffle. Sure, due to injury his MITB run didn't go as planned...but I'd say he's still got a nice spot with the company. Punk fans have nothing to worry about.

Oh yeah, his ME push is gonna come one day. I think we'll get a better read on things when Hayes comes back since he's a big MVP supporter. A couple of losses after a nearly year long title reign aren't gonna mean anything. And not for nothing, his gimmick is that he's not as good as the hype, so losses don't matter.

And I totally agree about Umaga. I was watching last night and I'm thinking "remember when Umaga was supposed to be nothing more than a Joe rip-off to the people who didn't know any better?". He's surpassed Joe.

It is interesting to read that Hayes is a supporter of MVP since he has been shown to be a racist SOB.

What he said to Mark Henry was what MVP told Hayes earlier in the night. "You more of an N than me, Michael!"

From all accounts, it seems he's more "insensitive" than flat out racist.
