But think about it's impact as of late.
CM Punk was drafted from ECW to Raw and immediately wins the WHC.
Kofi Kingston gets drafted from ECW to Raw and immediately win the IC title.
Matt Hardy gets drafted from SD to ECW, strengthening to roster and adding the US Championship to the roster.
Miz and Morrison have been dominating the tag team division for almost a year now, even defeating the legendary(yes, I said legendary) Hardys a couple weeks ago. They're the best tag team the WWE has had in many years, IMO.
Mark Henry gets drafted to ECW and immediately defeats the new Raw guy Kane to win the ECW title.
I don't see how ECW is being so "buried." Alot of talent coming from the brand is ascending to the top. Alot of the guys on the show are defeating some established members of the roster and getting nice pushes.
Sure, guys like Tommy Dreamer and Colin Delaney are being buried. But ECW is more of a developmental show. It's meant to get new talent some experience on the big stage and work with some established vets who will never make it big but are great workers to learn from. And IMO, the brand is succeeding at that.
ECW elevated RVD from career uppercarder to bonafide main eventer. ECW rejuvinated Big Show's floundering stale character. ECW elevated Bobby Lashley to bonafide main eventer. ECW has taken CM Punk, a n00b to the national audience, and created a main eventer. ECW has given guys like John Morrison and Miz a spot to grow exponentially and become excellent workers and likely uppercard acts for years to come(probably main event for Morrison a few years down the road). Hell, it's even given stale acts like Kane and Chavo a place to be useful.
I don't get all the ECW hate. Sure, you won't see any of the top guys like H, Cena, Taker, Edge, or Batista...but it's been a great place for new guys to break in and old guys to get a fresh start, and it does a fairly good job at being entertaining while do so(remember, they only get an hour a week). Let it be what it is, it serves it's purpose well.
