A painfully broken Jake "The Snake" Roberts finally opened up about his public self-destruction at an Ohio wrestling event -- admitting the whole thing started when the recovering alcoholic fell off the wagon on the day of the match.

During the extremely emotional interview with Chris Yandek on CYInterview.com, Snake blames the relapse on a deeply personal radio interview he gave on the day of the meltdown -- where he opened up about being sexually abused as a child (among other terrible things).

Despite taking the blame, Snake still believes someone slipped something into his drink before the match. But there is good news -- even though Jake admits he's "scared to death" and "crying a lot," he is adamant about not giving up on himself

damn...I remember that movie about backstage stuff with him Terry Funk and Mick Foley when I was younger..Forgot the name of it but when he was talking about his life and all the stuff that happened to his family etc..I couldnt feel nothing but sympathy for him..

I believe it was called "Beyond the Mat," dealt with Snake, Funk, Foley, and ECW in general.

I believe there was a follow-up to 'Beyond the Mat' which focused mainly on Jake Roberts. It was painful to see how horrible his life was.

Jake is one tortured soul but it's good to see that he's trying to fight back against his demons. The man has been through hell and back again more times then anyone should ever have to.

Jake used to live about 5-10 minutes from me back in the early 90's. Played church league softball against the man. Hopefully he can finally get rid of some of his demons.

Jake hasn't quite been the same since the Honky Tonk Man hit him over the head with that guitar back in the day. And it wasn't one of the cheapy Jeff Jarrett guitars either,it was the real thing.
