Is GM Mode in SVR 09?

I remember hearing that, while some aspects of the mode are still present, GM Mode as it existed in SDvR08 is not present in SDvR09.

Good question, If not GM mode you would think there would be another game mode of some kind. Only two game modes have been announced (Road to Wrestlemania and Career) which seems odd. With only the two modes I was thinking maybe THQ/Yukes has kept a secret game mode under wraps to suprise us. I mean last years game had 3 modes. 24/7 GM, 24/7 Career, and Tournament so why would they reduce it this year?

It doesn't look like it. There's career mode and tournament mode and Road to Wrestlemainia mode. There's a roster management screen where you can set who's on what brand and who the champs are. There's 2 locked titles,Tommy Dreamer has one of them (hardcore I'd guess) and a locked wrestler has the other. Also there's only one ****** title unless that's what the locked one is. Career mode looks to be much the same as GM mode but you can only play as one wrestler.

Speaking of titles,little help? Who are the US,Cruiserweight and SD Tag champs? It's Benjamin,Chavo and Miz & Morrison by default. Do they even have the CW title anymore? I know M&M lost them in that scramble match when Hawkins and Ryder pinned another team but I thought they lost them later in some punishment match for screwing up.

Career mode looks to be much the same as GM mode but you can only play as one wrestler.

Huh, How does that work? Does the CPU manage the rosters, finances, rivalries, matches, etc for every show each week and you only focus on things your wrestler can control ie: training, contracts, maybe request a trade to another show or a title shot?

Edit: To answer your question the US Champion is still Benjamin, the Cruiserweight Title has been vacant forever and the Tag Champs on Smackdown are Carlito and Primo.

No show ratings or finaces or contracts. There's individual match ratings and you start out rated a 36 and bulid up through your matches based on the awards and stats. I think there's 110 awards,they're not numbered so I attempted to count individually.

I picked CM Punk was automatically sent down the IC title path. Might be able to request a path/show change later. You can put whatever wrestler you'd like on whatever show before you start,has to be at least 6 per show but there doesn't seem to be a way to change after you start.

I need a certian ammount of stars to get an IC title shot (3 more at the moment). You get to pick your oppent from a list of wrestlers. I can pick Kane,JBL,Cody Rhodes or Regal. Can start your own rivalry I guess and it keeps track of your record against them but there's no story to it. There's a ton of stats to go through like longest match,how many pinfall attempts,how many were a success,tables broken etc.

There's no movie shoots or training and that stuff but there is health,it's based on how you've been hurt during the match and get a certian % of health back after each match.

It's kind of like if GM mode was equal to a franchise then career would be equal to season mode but it probably keeps going.

Guess I'll have to find a new partner for Carlito and I'll throw the CW title on London.

that ****in' pisses me off that GM mode has been removed. For the life of me, I'll never understand why game developers believe that removing a feature is a good thing.

wats the point of having a roster management screen when it really doesn't matter??? No GM mode= no buy

to anyone that has the game, is the career mode like GM mode where you can control the other matches? I know that you can select who's on what show and whether they are face/heel but was wondering if you could create stables as well?

Thanks in advance. Not having a GM mode has really turned me off to this game.

Not that I've seen. Career mode so far has just been about me and my journey for the tittle. I don't see anyway that you can control other matches or create stables. I didn't know they had this in 08, how was that game? I may trade this in for 08 because it sounds like GM mode would be a lot more fun.

No stable creation in that mode. Can do it at the roster management screen for exhibition though.

'08 wasn't bad, just the roster was fairly barebones. The animations and control was fairly the same but you don't have the new tag team, dlc, nor the create a finisher.

But GM mode offers so much replayability thats its not even funny. Managing guys, creating matches, creating storylines leading up to the PPV. The only thing that I really disliked about '08 is that on the PS3, the game ran at 30fps.

A little bit. After winning the IC title it gave me the option to play either the US or ECW titles but I think that's the extent of it.

Can they somehow patch GM Mode into the game with enough requests? If so, lets start a petition to put this fantastic mode back into the game. I bought this game wanting to play GM Mode and now I'm thinking about taking it back.
