This was from yesterday's WO daily update. And people wonder why I make fun of southern wrasslin' fans. This show was in Alabama.

Karl Stern noted to us about a riot at a Southeastern Wrestling show last night. There were more than 250 fans at the show and during the Mike Jackson retirement ceremony, he was attacked by heels and the place came unglued. A woman reported a man pulled a knife on her and her husband. Before police could squelch the problem, an elderly man went to his vehicle and came in the arena with an axe to attack the heels. Police confiscated the axe before he attacked the heels. During all this, a woman actually called 911 to request an ambulance for Jackson because of the beatdown.

I love stuff like that.

The crowds in Atkins Va are alot like that.

We did a heel run in on a cage match and people started pitching bottles and trash at us. It was great.

People sitting on their hands and smarking out are crowd killers. An old lady cursing you out is worth her weight in gold.

Does this only apply to professional wrestling? I see this quite regularly in rush hour traffic... it makes me laugh quite heartily.

Never thought about it outside of wrestling before but a old lady stringing together a curse parade in her car might be pretty humorous indeed.

Yep, that is beautiful heat and shows that the fans were actually emotionally invested in the product. Well done I say.

I also couldn't agree more with the thought that smarky wrestling fans twirling on their thumbs is bad for the business.

This is the kind of crowd that you want at a show whether there are 250 people or 10,000 people.

Just worked a show for NWA Fusion here in VA and I like their long term strategy...It's aimed to make kids happy more so than "smarks".

Don't get me wrong...the boys are still working hard and tearing down the joint but they're pushing alot of big over the top characters (like 80's WWF).

And you can't go wrong working for the youngest dominator in a southern crowd...they give loud boistrous heat the whole show.

I've been the loudest guy in some really hot crowds and my heckling is so legendary I've been mentioned in The Observer...but there is something sub-human about an old man chasing after wrestlers with an ax.
