After I watched the Joe/Punk trilogy and saw the promo he cut after taking the ROH title off Austin Aries, I knew Punk could be a success in the WWE. He's got one of the absolute greatest minds for the sport of professional wrestler. He's a student of the game, knows what it takes to make a feud work, and knows the strengths of his unique character.

I agree 100%. Punk is a bonified star, and he worked hard to get this good.

I will agree that Punk's reign on Raw was kinda bad. But that was because he was rushed and poorly booked at that time. He was champ, but the WWE never put him as the focus.


His reign on Smackdown has been great though, thus far. He's brought the best out of Jeff Hardy. And his slow heel turn has been fun to watch.

Punk is still young. To say he'll always be "the B show's champ" is stupid. Orton's first reign was horrible. Yet five years later, he's one of the cornerstones of the company.

Punk is here for the long-term. He's only been with the company for three years, and already has won the WHC twice, IC title, tag titles, ECW title, and MITB twice. Plus he's probably taking the WHC into the second biggest PPV for the second straight year. Obviously they have big plans for Punk.

The difference between Edge and punk, is that Edge has a very solid character, a character that attempts to win at all costs. So in essence it would only make sense for Edge to win any way he can.

Your right, the WWE never put him as focus then they suddenly shoved him down our throat, forcing us to accept him as champ. IMO they just did it again with this time around, but have followed up with a decent feud with Hardy (IMO who should have NEVER been champion)

I dont understand what it is with Smackdown, but it seems people are just more forgiving on that brand then they are with raw. Its the same fans that watch it, but with a lack of main event talent, i can see why Punk would excel over there. It seems that over the years Raw courts the larger Main eventers, and SM! caters to the "just not there yet" type of guys. So to say he will probably be just the B brand champion will have to be his staple IMO until they can effectivly build his reputation as being one of the top dogs.

Dont get me wrong, i dont just think these things toward CM Punk alone. when i heard Edge was champion, i about choked on my own spit. However when i watched edge sport his popular attitude and lust for winning anyway he can, it just made him look and feel like a true champion.

So all in al, yes punk is young, but now-a-days its risky to shove people down fan's throats. Look at what it has done for Cena recently, the boo's get worse every week in some areas. But to me CM Punk hasnt lived upto the hype that everyone here says he has, i guess im just not sold on him yet. But to each person thier own.

SD = wrestling focused show.
Raw = "sports entertainment"/storyline focused show.

hell yeah hes was an awesome heel in ROH wiith the im straight edge and im better then you gimmick he had.. im glad hes turning heel.. needed a change ..very few wrestlers can play both heel and baby face and hes one that can.

I'm perplexed why WWE doesn't use him on the microphone more often when they know such great promos exist. I think in this TVPG era of the WWE, though, such subject matter would be frowned upon by the writers.

Should be refreshing with Punk as a heel, though, because I thought his face run was getting stale after he won the Intercontinental Belt from Regal earlier this year.

I will say that I feel that Punk's WWE promos are very hit or miss. It almost seems like he turns it up when he "feels" the promo he's cutting, if that makes sense. I'm sure most guys are that way, but I see it with Punk more than others. That being said, Punk's "miss" promos are still better than half the roster when they're on the mic.

Well, I don't think people should expect the ROH heel version of Punk -- then they will just be letdown. There's no way that version of Punk will be allowed on WWE TV, plus it would be kind of played out in a way to simply reuse the same heel version. Punk is talented enough to create a new heel persona that is at least somewhat different (assuming the writers don't ruin him).
