Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
Guys, there's not a lot of activity in this section. I'm looking to pick this game up, but it doesn't seem like it's holding value. Want to get back to the matches with Giggas, JD, and the boys.
So I guess my question is, does anyone still play it?Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
I haven't been as addicted as I once was when I first picked it up. I've been playing NHL more.
The Create-A-Story mode is a bit too time consuming for me at the moment. I'll probably play it more during winter break. But I wouldn't consider trading it in since I feel its a 'true classic' and is a nice game to have in the collection.
I'd recommend renting it if you're unsure.Owner, Spear Interactive

I haven't bought one since SD vs Raw 07, in which we had a great time with it...
I'm thinking that 10 should be much better.. and the fact that I can download all of the great CAW's that's coming out at caws.ws, it's about to push me to buy it.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
It would be PERFECT if they got rid of the CAW limit in CAS and allowed us to edit downloaded CAWs.Owner, Spear Interactive

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
I don't play it anymore. The lack of a true GM mode killed the long term replay value for me. I really thought the story mode would hold my interest longer than it did. Add to that, I don't follow wrestling anymore, and well, I guess it was inevitable that I'd eventually grow tired of the game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
Yeah, I haven't watched wrestling in a few years... quite a few actually... but I was hoping that the real nice CAW's that are out could ignite my passion for wrestling games again. I used to have a LOT of fun with them. Just want an escape from my regular NBA titles. Picking up Modern Warfare 2, but still want something else.
I'll rent it and see if it does anything for me.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
I didn`t last long with this game. I really need to quite buying these games when they are full price. I just don`t get enough play out of them. The last Smackdown that I actually played a lot was Here Comes the Pain. I just need a good season/career mode to play. Ever since HCTP the season modes have been very short and not much to them. Hopefully someday they will put a good season mode back into the game.Comment

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
I wish THQ would follow EA's lead. They are releasing a patch in December for Fight night to allow you to EDIT the ratings for the LICENSED fighters, among other things. If only THQ finally allowed us to edit ALL wrestlers in this game (after all, it is supposed to be OUR WORLD now, right?)Comment

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
I have an online CAW wrestling show that I make as a hobby and I'm still in awe of what the game brings to the table customization-wise. I can't say this enough, Create-A-Story's cutscenes are the best thing to happen to those out there that produce these shows. Definitely think the gameplay is the best the series has seen on next-gen as well , completely unlike what I had previously expected (yet it still can't compare with the older PS2 titles like SYM and HTCP). Minor tweaks but what's there can make the match presentation more true-to-life.
I understand my opinion is far different from those on OS simply because I don't play it like I would play, say, NHL 10 or NBA 2K10. Instead, I manipulate what the game has to offer for the show I produce. So I may see things much more differently than the rest of you.
For the few people like me out there, SVR is a great improvement that allows much more flexibility and personalization in the customization department. I can empathize with everyone's opinion, though. There's not enough "overhaul" except for customization, which many people see as fluff and not critical to the overall game itself. And I'm fine with that idea as well. Sooner or later, though, it'll be time to improve gameplay mechanics. And I'm hoping that'll be next year since the customization overhaul is out the door.Owner of URWL CAW WRESTLING: http://www.rantboard.net/Comment

Re: Still playing SD vs Raw 2010?
IMO, I think THQ picked the wrong motto to use this year. "It's your world now." Yes, like you said, there are MINOR tweaks that have enhanced the gameplay. But, it is still a reverse fest. Watching CPU vs CPU is actually fun because they do play according to ratings. I love to do that, but I would like to play the game as well but the reverse fest is annoying.
They say it's our world now, yet, I can't customize the attributes of the licensed wrestlers (but there is a "adjust attributes" grayed out under the superstar management section). I'm limited to layers / clothes because of a point system now. I still have to play my CAW through numerous matches just to get his stats up, and when you do, you can't "re-adjust" if they are too high. As much as they've "fixed" some features, let us not forget the number of things they have taken away from us. They took out GM mode, and in one review, they mentioned there would be some "mini" games before each match, yet, they took that out as well.
Create a story is great, but, that's it after that. The game gets "stale" after awhile. GM mode at least added more replayability to the game. All they had to do was enhance it. You can wrestle for a title offline, but what's the point if it's just you?? I like the game for what it is...a simple wrestling game. But there is so much more then could have and should have done that would have kept a lot more people playing it. The threads are dwindling, too. I guess "It's your world now...well, not really." Just my opinion.Comment
