I havent watched or kept up with wrestling in years outside of watching the Hart Dynasty from time to time on Smackdown but with all the hype surrounding Raw and Impact along with the return of Bret and the NWO.........err, I mean, Hogan, Nash, Hall, Bischoff, etc., I figured what the hell so I watched both on YouTube.
RAW sucked outside of the return of Bret Hart. Would prefer to see Bret vs Shawn at WM but you can see that Bret doesnt have the conditioning to wrestle Shawn and quite honestly, seeing him beat the hell out of Vince at WM will be what he wanted to do for real 12 years ago.
Impact had a great main event with Angle and Styles and surprisingly, a good womens tag team title match but the rest was crap. I love how they kept showing the limo with Hogan yet he said he was there backstage all day talking with the other wrestlers.
The ring is horrible. They should get rid of that Octagon crap. The cage match was horrible and I love how its on wheels outside and the top of the cage looks like it was just dropped on top of it for no apparent reason whatsoever.
Didnt really care about Jeff Hardy but who was the guy with him? Was that Shannon Moore? I couldnt tell.
I really hope that they arent going to have a Nasty Boys vs Dudleys feud.
Does Sting ever wrestle or do anything or is he pretty much like he was at the end of WCW?
Speaking of WCW, while watching Impact, thats exactly what I thought I was watching but with a few differences - the main guys are older and crappier, the rate of the show is lower and if anything its actually a poor man's WCW which is sad.
If TNA wanted to compete and surpass WWE, they should have done what I said when they first started - eliminate all the soap opera crap and just concentrate on actual wrestling. Instead of sports entertainment, what about wrestling entertainment???
After all, when RAW and NITRO were each getting ratings of 5.0 and higher and then, when WCW was no more and RAW was getting around the same or lower, what did TNA think happened to all the other wrestling fans?
So many people stopped watching wrestling because it wasnt wrestling anymore. It was a damn boring soap opera. And sadly, it still the same but worse.
The only way wrestling will ever be good again is if a wrestling company does just that - wrestle.
With that all being said, the Monday Night War might be good and prove to be worth watching or in a few years, we'll be seeing Vince on Spike saying that he now owns TNA. Quite honestly, I wouldnt be surprised one bit if the latter actually happens.
