If Corbin was a heel... I don't think so. It's all opinion though, and I doubt he ever becomes one, but I think it's a good idea to think about

      Why?

He can't work right now. If he's boring in the ring, nobody will care. They gave Heyman someone that can work (Axel) and it went nowhere. Heyman isn't a cure-all.

They also gave him another monster (Ryback) and that didn't work at all either. Have been against this make everybody a Paul Heyman guy since they first hinted at it. It only works with Lesnar and Punk because they truly are Paul Heyman guys, you can't force a connection like that.
That's not an insult, THAT is just a fact of life.

I agree. And it's been proven in the past Heyman only can be successful with guys that already are top level guys.

I don't necessarily think that's true either, though.

It just isn't something that can be forced, and the character has to be compelling before Heyman - just missing that something to send it over the top.

Axel? Never compelling. Corbin? Never compelling.

The problem with Axel and even Cesaro was that Heyman got distracted talking about Ryback or Lesnar and that didn't help. If he'd have been as focused in getting Axel or Cesaro over instead of other people I'm convinced he would have managed it.

Cesaro was over before Heyman. Putting him with Heyman killed him.

Was glad to see Breeze pick up the win on Itami. Not that I don't like Itami, I just wanted to see him even up the score to make the feud better. All around good match. Both guys are super talented.

I've never been an Alex Riley fan. Not in the ring, not on commentary. That's why I was surprised that over the past few weeks they've actually made me interested in him with this Owens stuff. He's had some good segments, I thought he's had some intensity behind his words. Clearly he believes he has more to offer, and that conviction really helps sell it.

...then he had a match this week. I have no interest in Owens vs. Riley anymore. I'll still see it because I always watch NXT, but man...

It's near-impossible to root for Riley as a face. But if he stays off commentary, I'll watch Owens drag him through a match before destroying him.

That's also a good point I didn't mention. Over the past few weeks when I was interested in a match, I haven't felt compelled to root for Riley. I still want Owens to win.

Hopefully Enzo and Cass get a title match at the next 2 hour special.

Riley always used to get a good reaction from live crowds, which made it baffling to me why he ended up in NXT in the first place.

As long as he continues to show that fire in his matches and promos then he'll do well.

This could be true too, I never thought Cesaro needed Heyman, I hated it right off the bat.

I wasn't watching during his run in the WWE, but he has a good look and seemed pretty solid in the ring in his debut in NXT.
