Does anyone else miss the days...

    ...of the old WWF?!

I was thinking today about the old WWF and I was just shell-shocked about how it's changed.. and for the worse.

Back when I was in love (still am, just not obsessed like i was, LOL), every title was a big deal. Nowadays, if its not the WWE title or the WHC, I could care less. The Tag-Team titles were actually relevant and I actually cared to watch those matches.

To me, growing up, the Hardcore title was my bread-and-butter. I would spend HOURS recreating matches on my action figures, video-games and even with my brother in my basement (bungie cords as ropes, tons of weapons, mattress as the mat, etc.). I mean, we even had a walkway with a 'jumbotron' and our own stereo system.

I miss the old WWF and hopefully, the new can become the old.

You picked the wrong time to post this, considering the biggest thing happening now is straight out of "old WWF".

        Lol. Seriously.

It appears that the WWE has been paying attention and has been giving the more dedicated fans what they want. The E has been a lot more interesting over this last month....

We got the CM Punk storyline...
The Christian/Orton feud has been good...
        Henry whooping ***...
        A Truth/Miz/Christian faction possibly developing?...
        D. Bryan getting a big push...
        JR back on commentary...
        Sheamus turning face...
        Better mid card usage...
Tag team division may be coming back. The titles haven't switched hands in a while and Otunga/Mike actually have a tag team finisher!
They appear to be making a point to have the IC title mean something again...
Hell even the Divas got a little more interesting with Beth and Nattie turning heel and beasting girls they should be beasting. I actually want to see where this is leading...lol
        Z Ryder on TV!!!

Now if they would just give my man McIntyre a push, I would be pretty damn satisfied.

I wouldn't say that what is happening now is out of the old WWF.

I would say what is happening now is like if the Attitude era talent was matched up with some high quality writing.

Honestly, if people would sit down and watch a few episodes of RAW from the attitude era, not classics like beer bath or anything like that, just an average episode...you'd be bored to tears.

The only reason it got over was because of Austin and shock value. Now, it's just high quality writing and mega talent.

LOL. I like Stone Cold and all, but it takes more than middle fingers and beer drinking to be a good TV show. While I enjoyed some of it at the time, most attitude era stuff has not aged well. It really was 90% shock value.

Re: Does anyone else miss the days...

The Attitude Era had great moments, and was more about the storylines. But if you're comparing then today's roster has far more in ring talent and there are much better matches than there were during AE. I loved the AE since that's the time when I first became a wrestling fan, but stepping back and being honest it wasn't as godly as some make it seem. The strength at the top was a bit better than today, but after that things dropped off tremendously.

And though guys like Val Venis and Godfather were pretty entertaining to me at the time, they don't hold a candle to today's midcarders like Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler in the ring.

Agree w/ those who say that alot of the AE was cringeworhty shock value. I hope WWE never goes back to that kind of stuff, because if they did I'd honestly be embarrassed to watch it. I love AE for what it was but things change and people need to move on from it and stop wishing for it to come back every other week.

You use more ellipses than anybody I have seen... and I use them quite a bit.

Not anyone can win the title at any time. I would say that is MORE true now than it was in the Attitude Era. There is more talent now in the business than there has ever been, and the writing as of late has been pretty spot-on.

                        Haters gonna hate though.

The difference between AE's midcard and today's is that, while today's guys are much better in the ring, the AE's mid card had a ton more personality and charisma. They all had characters.

WWE had better characters and marketing in the 80's, NWA/WCW had the better workers and matches. Both were great. It's never going back though, so we just have to take what we can get. Or just own a massive collection of dvds.

There was more of an importance for other titles back in the day. Nowadays, it's almost as if the world title doesnt matter anymore either.
