JR compared the content planned to NFL/MLB Networks on Twitter.

I would hope they'll follow the same model, carriage-wise.

That doesn't give me a good feeling about this then. Neither of those two networks show many classic games. I have a feeling we will see a ton of top 10 lists and reruns of the previous weeks shows.

Exactly what I believe this will be.

Start from some date and show programming from then. Like, say if the date is August 1, 1997, it shows the RAW from that date, then the next airing is the August 8 show, then August 15, etc. Or you can have it connected with Smackdown where you can watch the RAW one day, then the next day the subsequent Smackdown would air.

Don't know about licensing and all that, but they should be able to do pretty much anything with old ECW, old WCW, everything.

It would be awesome if they didn't constantly treat it as another platform for the current angles and would break kayfabe to deliver the content I described above.
"Men Behind the Match" is a fantastic idea. That would be awesome. I just hope we get a diverse mix, with lots of variety. That would make me happy. Lots of full episodes of TV's from the past.

              Re: WWE Network Ideas

WWE has sent out a survey today polling about ideas for the WWE Network. The direction they are talking about is it would be a monthly pay network, similar to HBO or Showtime, priced at between $7 and $12 per month. The fee would be part of a package that would include a number of stations including the NFL Network, NBA Network and Fuel TV (which will have a heavy dose of UFC live preliminary coverage next year).
It would offer 24 hours of programming, including new WWE produced shows that aren't wrestling shows, repeats of both Raw and Smackdown, old footage, two nights of first-run live wrestling programming and a daily news show.
The biggest surprise is that WWE would apparently keep only the "B" shows on PPV, and would make WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series exclusive to network subscribers and no longer offer them on PPV.
If they were to actually make that move, since they would be part of tiered programming and would only get a minimal part of that $7 to $12 fee, and certainly not nearly what the NFL or NBA would get, they would be giving up more than $25 million that the company earned in PPV revenue from Mania alone this year. That's not throwing in revenue from the other three big events which may do another $20 million combined, perhaps more this year due to an expected upturn in Survivor Series.

Yeah, but they're going to make a ton of money in advertising fees for commercials that will offset that ppv revenue loss. That'd be awesome if it was included in a sports package tier though and not a seperate fee for it altogether.

Wait, as in....those PPV events would just be aired on WWE Network? That's wild....wild.

Certainly a solution for those of us who don't want to/can't dish out 50 bucks each time there's a damn event.

Seems to me you'd still have to pay for them. Otherwise you could subscribe for a month and cancel esentially getting what cost $50 or $60 in the case of WM for $10. $210 down to $40?

The NFL Network is already included in the basic package here.

I'm sure that if they actually showed the big 4 PPV's on the network they would not allow someone to cancel and resign up for every one of them. They can't be that stupid....maybe.

                        Re: WWE Network Ideas

Honestly, I was expecting the opposite of that. That the big PPVs would stay on PPV and things like Over the Limit and Night of Champions would be relegated to WWE Network.

If they put WrestleMania on WWE Network I will be shocked.

I'd imagine when they say they're going to air the ppv, it's not going to be live. Maybe a week later, maybe two. But if they were going to air the "big 4" live, why not all ppv's?

Commercials. I don't know a ton about advertising revenue but I would imagine they could charge a ton of money for commercials during Wrestlemania. If they do end up showing the ppv's on the network you're pretty much guaranteed they will have commercials. Hopefully they would only do them in between matches though.

Well they couldn't really do anything about it could they?

I don't see them showing live PPVs on there. The most I could see happening like that is repackaging their less popular PPVs and showing them live on there sort of like the old WCW Clash of the Champions events. I can't imagine WM being shown live on there.
