Honorable mentions:
HHH vs. CM Punk
A great match but the shady ending that still really hasn't be dealt with kept it from being included.
Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison
Only one Superstars match was going in here.
Zack Ryder vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan
The awesome 4 way from last week. I didn't think it should be included in the poll but it was worth mention.
Now for the ones in the poll...
John Morrison vs. Miz (Raw January 3rd)
The very first match of the year. 12 months later it still holds up. A fantastic falls count anywhere match for the WWE Championship. JoMo was on a streak and it looked like with this match being on Raw instead of the Royal Rumble he might actually win. Sadly he didn't and Miz moved onto Jerry Lawler.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Edge (Royal Rumble)
I think I might've been the only one that loved this match. Now with everyone reconizing Ziggler's talents and Edge being retired perhaps it'll get more love. An awesome edge of your seat 20 minute match that was made better by the stipulation of Edge not being able to use the spear. Which he did anyway and won.
SD Elimination Chamber (Elimination Chamber)
It seems every year one of the EC's is in contention for this. Rightfully so. Despite JoMo's great leap and overall nice match the SD chamber is picked instead because the winner wasn't so blatantly obvious. It started with Edge and Rey and it ended with the same nearly 30 minutes later with just about everything in between, even Drew got a huge pop. Edge and Rey kicked out of each other's finishers with Edge eventually winning by countering a springboard with a spear.
Undertaker vs. HHH (WrestleMania XXVII)
A match no one was looking forward to. They're old, they can't do what they used to anymore,we've seen this before, there's no chance of HHH actually winning. Ironically HHH not having a chance of winning was part of what made it so good because at least twice,if only for a second it seemed like he could. Particularly when he hit that Tombstone. We were all suprised 'Taker kicked out anyway even though we knew better. Of course Undertaker won but was hauled out of there with assistance, maybe finally setting up the loss for the next WM. Also big ups on the entrances.
CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (Capitol Punishment)
An extremely lackluster show but had there been a show to steal these 2 would've done it. Nearly every time these guys get together it ends up in this discussion. No exception here as they put on another clinic. Punk had been on a long losing streak headed into this and with his contract almost up no one expected him to win so it was that much better when he did, countering the 619 directly into the GTS.
CM Punk vs. John Cena (Money in the Bank)
This would be why the poll/topic is a formality. It had everything that makes wrestling great. If someone asks why just show them this. This was also the longest non-Royal Rumble match of the year at 33:44. The amazing atmosphere in Punk's hometown from the huge chant prior to the match, the beginning fun, back and forth match once it got going, plenty of false finishes, worry of Super Cena,a possible screw job and Punk finally winning to what had to be the biggest pop of the year, then fighting off ADR and bolting with the title and placing it in his fridge.

Perfect match at a perfect moment in the perfect place.
Miz vs. Rey Mysterio (Raw July 25th)
Punk running away with the title gave us all another great match. This time on free TV! The finals of the tournament to determine the new champion. Sadly by the end of the night this match was forgotten and the result was negated. Doesn't stop it from being included here though. Rey pulled out a victory taking advantage of Miz's injury from MITB,hitting the 619 and a top rope splash. One the best matches on free TV all year.
Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett (Summerslam)
Apologies to Orton/Christian but this won the coin toss to represent Summerslam. Orton's one good match a year got bumped by Wade Barrett last year too, maybe they can use that in their feud. This is how you wrestle people! Right here! As a common occurance throughout these no one expected Barrett to win. Barrett did in fact win after a great back and forth match. Sadly this match was for nothing and had no build thus the crowd not being into it but that hardly takes away from the wonderful in ring performance. I sense a rematch in the near future with Bryan's title on the line.
Daniel Bryan vs. William Regal (Superstars November 10th)
This was on Superstars so nobody saw it. Probably the best pure technical match of the year. It happend in England so the crowd appreciated and was very into the match being behind both guys. Also produced one of the funniest moments of the year when Regal's music changed to his old real man theme half way through his entrance and everyone had a good laugh. Bryan came out with the win in this free guide to technical wrestling and they both shook hands at the end to a well deserved ovation from the crowd.
CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler (Raw November 21st)
A champion vs. champion match that may very well end up the WM Raw title match and no one will complain after this. Punk had a great chance of winning and did. These two had great chemistry all the way through. Despite being for nothing at least the crowd was into it. Can only hope when they surely meet later it'll be much longer and have something on the line and it'll end up in MOTY discussion again.
