    Each PPV's meaning/significance

I was just hoping that someone on here could kindly go through the PPV's (old and new if possible) and what the "themes" or significance of each is/was supposed to be, I just started watching a little while ago and am not really sure as to what all the PPV's are supposed to be about. I also want to bring some of these back in the WWE video game too for universe and creating stories, and I need to know what the object of each PPV is supposed to be. Wrestlemania is not necessary to explain.

Royal Rumble = 30 man battle royale and the winner gets a title shot.

Elimination Chamber = 2 6 man chamber matches for the titles or #1 contender.

Wrestlemania = You said don't explain.

Extreme Rules = Started as One Night Stand,an ECW tribute show in June. Now replaced Backlash. Mostly WM rematches with speciality matches.

Over the Limit = No point really.

No idea what the June show will be this year. They keep changing it. Currently rumored is Bragging Rights which is an elimantion tag match between Raw and SD.

July used to be Money in the Bank for the briefcases to allow a title shot at any time but that match has been moved back to WM. Now it's listed as TLC which has a table match, ladder match, chair match and TLC match to cover the main events. This was in Decemeber the last few years.

Summerslam in August. Shouldn't need to explain.

Night of Champions in September where every title is defended.

Hell in a Cell will be the October PPV where the main events are Hell in a Cell matches.

Survivor Series for November. Shouldn't need to explain that either.

December not listed either but I believe it'll be Vengeance which again has no point.

You know, for all the **** Bragging Rights takes, if this Laurinaitis/Teddy Long feud goes somewhere that could actually be a really cool PPV. 4-on-4 for control of both WWE shows? I'm watching it.

They'll probably stick to the ridiculously full 7on7 match that Bragging Rights was known for if it winds up on the schedule.

Thanks man I appreciate it...so the ones where you say theres no point basically means its "just another show", right? No special significance, just a place where feuds can end?

I think don't they even do that anymore but yes those are just another show. No theme or anything. December might be Fatal 4 Way where the 2 title matches are fatal 4 way matches. Single falls, not elimination.

Alright thanks this helped alot. I always used to think that the ppv's were just "bigger" shows, I never really knew some of them had so much significance (besides the ones with the obvious names like TLC and Elimination Chamber)

Still not really sure why WWE hasn't put Starrcade in for December. Who doesn't want a stacked card to lead into the Road to Wrestlemania around Christmas/New Years holiday?

Because WWE treats December as a wrap up. Last year's TLC, if you didn't know who was going to win almost every match, you weren't paying attention. WCW put on a show and WWE just uses it to lead in to the holiday specials and to erase everything from memory that they won't be using in January-March.

I can kind of deal with most of these "specialty" PPVs, even though I'm not a fan of them, but the Fatal 4 Way one just seems incredibly dumb.

Yea, that and Elimination Chamber need to go. You are forcing there to be 4-6 main event title contenders at the same time and that happens once every few years, maybe. People get thrown into the match (like Khali, Kingston, Santino, Rhodes) either because of injuries or just to fill spots and they make 0 sense as a world title contender at that moment. They need to go back to In Your House and give a title based on what is going on. The current system of recycling just leads to recycling of storylines.
