    Re: WWE Off-Topic

WWE shares now worth over $60!?! This is crazy. They were once under $8. Their market cap is closing in on 5 billion!

The independent wrestler won the SFV competition.

Omega won the promo battle, too.

Just watched it on UpUpDwnDwn....Kenny was hot on the mic today lol.

Funny stuff from both New Day and The Elite. One day, I hope we see more cross-promotional stuff.

          Re: WWE Off-Topic

This ESPN Reigns article points out an issue with WWE that unfortunately, looks like people don't have an issue with.

Roman Reigns enjoys the gray area that his character owns, but knows there's a few potential storylines -- like one with Daniel Bryan -- that could greatly change that perspective.

Roman Reigns isn't concerned if he gets cheered or booed in whichever continent, country or city the WWE stops next. What matters most is that he garners a reaction.

"That's what I do," Reigns said during a media event ahead of WWE Raw in London, just a small cog in the company's extensive 2018 European tour. "As long as they're showing up and as long as they're making noise, then I've done my job."

"It's a weird question because aren't I already a heel?" Reigns said. "If I garner that reaction, what's the point? It's already happening. If I'm already being booed, then why try to get booed?

"I have a great opportunity -- because I'm a gray-area guy -- to do a little bit of everything. I'm in a good place to do whatever I want and just play with this character and not just be a heel or a face -- I feel my character can be so much more than that."
WWE needs to just do away with the heel and face stuff. This isn't the 80s. Just have people go out there and do whatever they want and let fans choose how they react. If fans want to cheer Elias hitting someone with a guitar, then let them. Don't act like he's a heel getting cheered, or the fans are living in "bizzaroworld" for not reacting exactly how WWE dictates they react. If fans want to boo Roman Reigns interfering in a match because he wants revenge on a guy, let them boo him and play up to that.

What Reigns is saying does sounds like that. But obviously when you watch the shows, it's entirely different. He's a guy they're acting like is the big fan fave, who gets booed because fans are weird, or wrong for reacting a different way.

Heels and faces are just an outdated concept, not just in WWE, but society in general. You see that topic brought up in TV shows fairly often. "Are we the good guys?" being the type of line you'd hear. Because the lines between good and bad get blurred at times, and good vs evil varies depending on perspective.

This isn’t the NBA Maj. Positionless basketball isn’t a thing here. Heels and faces isn’t an outdated concept because good vs evil is not an outdated concept. At the very core of storytelling in wrestling should be the good guy vs the bad guy. Yes there will be tweeners who work like Austin did, like The Rock did. What’s an outdated concept is force booking someone against their organic reactions repeatedly because it’s not the role you’ve already slotted them into and want them to have in perpetuity. What’s outdated is lazy writing that can’t properly build feuds that gives people reason to cheer the good guys and boo the bad guys.

If they completely throw away the face/hell thing now, with the current soft style in-ring and PG rating, WWE probably won't exist in 20 years.

The product sucks now because there ISNT heels vs faces anymore.

No defined anything. No point to anything.

If anyone wants worthless, bland "you me fight now" nonsense, they can watch MMA for that.

Just announced: a (probably) one-off PPV (similar to Greatest Royal Rumble) in Australia called Super Show-Down.

And you guessed it, one of the matches is Triple H-Taker "for the final time".

Why can't they just have regular PPVs there? For all the different things they're trying, would it really hurt to see how a PPV at something other than 7 or 8pm EST would do? Sunday afternoon, Saturday night, Saturday afternoon, see what a PPV at one of those times would be like.

lol, funny enough, I had a dream recently that WWE started having "Greatest ___" PPVs for abunch of other PPVs. I was waiting for them to have one called "The Greatest Wrestlemania"

I saw something that HHH retweeted about the event from an Australian newspaper and it was saying Cena, The Big Show, Rousey, HBK, HHH and Undertaker will be there. It just makes me shake my head that Rousey is the only person on the full time roster with enough mainstream appeal to be mentioned when promoting the event

Why though? I mean it's Ronda Rousey. A household name all over the world.

I'm fine with Rousey, I was referring to the fact that the newspaper sees The Big Slow and a retired guy as bigger names than any of the current full timers
