Re: At Their Peak, Who Was Hottest/Most Popular?
Yeah, I mean, Austin at his peak was very good, no doubt, but Hogan's peak was longer and probably made more money than Austin, no doubt.
There is a reason why they called it Hulkamania. Dude was on the top of the world in the 80s.Too Old To Game Club

Re: At Their Peak, Who Was Hottest/Most Popular?
And thanks for making my point for me. Hogan is headlining TNA right now and nobody gives a ****, meanwhile WWE without him is doing just fine (creatively is a different story) but Wrestlemania just did about 72,000 with over a million buyrates with him no where in sight and is expected to do close to if not at 90,000 this year with him no where in sight.
During his era of being on top and in regards to the original question Hogan was the most popular guy, but not by much because Austin and Rock did the same thing that Hogan did and they did it without the crutch of the company still pretending they were legit athletic competition.Last edited by King_B_Mack; 10-29-2012, 04:59 PM.Comment

If we're talking popular in terms of mainstream, it's obviously Hogan. Business wise, it's Austin._______________Comment

Actually, Austin is the king as far as merchandise and PPVs go. At his peak, there was no comparison with anyone. Unfortunately, his window was cut short because of the neck so he doesn't have the kind of attendance numbers that guys like Hogan and Sammartino have.

PPV numbers are also hard to compare, seeing as how more people had cable and dishes during the 90s than during the 80s when cable was just getting started.Comment
