King of the Ring, Live from Montreal
British Bulldog vs. Road Dogg
The European champion Bulldog shoud be excited tonight, as he's close to home in Montreal. Last week, after defeating Godfather, the two shook hands, possibly forming an alliance. Road Dogg is one half of the New Age Outlaws but wants to climb the ranks in singles competition. The two clearly don't like each other. In a back and forth match, the fight spilled outside. Bulldog suplexed Road Dogg onto the steel stairs. Bulldog then suplexed Road Dogg through the announce table! Road Dogg was busted open by a knee to the face yet continued to persevere. A DDT busted Bulldog open, but the champ hit a running powerslam for a victory. Road Dogg after the match raised Bulldog's hand.
Mankind and Rock vs. Ken Shamrock and Bossman
Last week Mankind was decimated by Bossman on the orders of Vince McMahon. Tonight, in a bizarre tag team match, the Corporate champion Rock teamed with Mankind to face Vince's goons. As Mankind walked out to the ring, it appears Rock and Vince conspired to screw mankind again. Rock no-showed the match, turning the match into a handicap match. Mankind shocked everyone but taking the fight to the Corporation. He punished Shamrock on the outside and went toe to toe with Boss Man. The numbers game caught up with Mankind as Bossman and Shamrock doubled him on multiple occasions. Mankind kept the fight outside of the ring most of the match and busted Shamrock open. Mankind escaped the sleeper-body scissors and continued to fight. Shamrock resorted to a rollup pin to defeat Mankind in a very close match most expected to be a dominant victory. After the match, Shamrock and Mankind were getting set to attack Mankind yet the Rock ran out, punched Shamrock out of the ring, and saved Mankind, betraying the Corporation.
Eddie Guerrero and Paul Wight vs. Billy Gunn and Chris Jericho
Last week Wight defeated Guerrero but tonight they team together. Guerrero and Wight argued before the match, showing their rivalry is still active. Early in the match, Guerrero attempted a tag, but Wight walked out of the match, leaving Guerrero to fend for himself. Gunn and Jericho worked well as a team, and a leg drop bull dog from Gunn put Guerrero away.
Shawn Michaels vs. Animal
The Road warriors and DX have been feuding. Before this match, triple H attacked Animal. Last week, Hawk beat Michaels, and HBK wants revenge. One Sweet Chin Music didn't put Animal away and the match continued. The momentum shifted to Animal, but Michaels fought back and hit a second Sweet Chin Music to win. After the match, Michaels attacked Animal with a steel chair to put an exclamation point on the win.
Steve Austin vs. Kane
These two have been rivaling for a few weeks, and this is an unofficial number one contender match for Rock's title. Kane attacked Austin before the match began, giving himself the advantage. Austin fought on, and hit a stunner but Kane wanted to win and face the Rock, and kicked out of the pin. Austin hit a Lou Thez press, and a second stunner to put the Red Monster away. Austin has officially earned the right to face the Rock in a rematch for the WWE Brahma Bull championship.
